We’ve been made aware of many of your requests for smaller teams in Air Realistic Battles as 16v16 teams are sometimes overwhelming in terms of the number of missiles at once.
With the release of the upcoming major update, we’ll be adding an option to the Air Realistic Battles game selection window where you’ll be able to turn on smaller team sizes.
This mechanic works in the same way as turning on the option for night battles: if there’s enough players in the queue with this option enabled, you’ll have a chance of getting into an air battle with smaller team sizes.
When this option is enabled, you’ll have the chance of getting into a battle with smaller team sizes (min - max: 6 - 12) instead of a regular battle (min - max: 6 - 16). Further adjustments in the future are possible depending on how sessions go.
This will only be for aircraft with a Battle Rating of 10.0 or higher, where high-end air-to-air missiles are far more prevalent.
Thank you for your feedback on this and we hope that this option for smaller teams will make your experience in Air Realistic Battles more enjoyable. Be sure to enable this option with the release of the major update!

Comments will be premoderatedThis is cool but i feel games will be more passive, any chance of adding Air capture points to lure players into closer fights in these smaller games
literally 16vs16 made no sense unless the map was massive. when it is on a small map is when it becomes chaotic and people get mad with each other when bombing bases. I don't understand how that is so easy to overlook.
I'm really, really glad it's an option. I don't think the community understands what they're asking for with this one...
Current high air rb lobbies are usually only half full in my experiance. Wouldn't making bigger maps with 2 air spawn options be a better solution for the amount of missles/players? The current maps feel small when you're goin 1200kmh+
I saw it said min-max 6-12, but More people want smaller teams means more people will go for the smaller game mode meaning most matches will be at the max, max should've been ten ngl
YES! i love the idea
A chance XD is this a joke?
This is a step in the right direction that I am thankful for, but I think that only having a *chance* of getting into smaller battles with the option enabled is not good enough. IMO as long as there are enough players queueing for smaller battles you should always get smaller battles, only reverting to larger battles when the queue isn't large enough.
The optionality is good, and so is the fact that you get it starting on 10.0. However, while at 10.0-12.0 BR a 6-12 people per team seems fine, perhaps at top tier it should be lowered even further to 6-10, perhaps even 6-8 per team, specially since ARH missiles are coming next patch too. Either way, this is a seriously good (and needed!) change, I hope it keeps getting tweaked to make the game more fun and engaging in the future. Keep up the good work and keep listening to community feedback!
An option like night battles? I've had night battles switched on since the release, i think i can count on two hands the amount i've gotten. This isn't some situation where you can have your cake and eat it too. We didn't ask for 8v8 because we enjoy smaller battles (don't get me wrong, we do), we asked for 8v8 because 16v16 just does not work and hasn't for a long time. It should be the inverse, make it an option to toggle into larger battles with 8v8 as the default.
