In War Thunder, Type 1936А (Z25) will be one of the rewards for completing the tasks in the new Battle Pass season.
Type 1936А (Z25), destroyer, Germany, Rank III. Premium.
Pros
- Very strong air defense
- Harmoniously balanced combat characteristics
Cons
- One main calibre cannon less than the other destroyers in the series
The Z25 destroyer of the Type 1936A class was laid down at the beginning of 1939 and launched a year later, soon joining the 8th destroyer flotilla along with other ships of the 1936A series. The destroyer began combat operations as part of the German Baltenflotte to protect Swedish ports from the hypothetical possibility of break through by ships of the Soviet Baltic Fleet from the besieged Leningrad. Shortly thereafter, the Z25 was active in hunting for Arctic convoys in the Barents and White Seas, where it converged with Soviet and British ships. In February 1942, she took part in the famous Operation Cerberus - a daring dash from France to Germany of two German battleships and a cruiser under the cover of a destroyer group along the channel between France and England. Under constant raids by British aircraft and destroyer attacks, the Z25 not only survived, but was not significantly damaged at all. After this brilliant operation, the destroyer returned North to intercept Allied Arctic convoys. After discovering problems with the power plant, the Z25 went to Germany for repairs. From the beginning of 1944 and until the end of the war, she continued to serve in the Baltic Sea, taking part in both combat and evacuation operations.
At the end of April 1945, the destroyer Z25 was decommissioned from service and after the war was transferred to France, where it received the name "Hoche". Here she served for more than 10 years and even underwent a major modernization, but by 1957 the exploitation of the German veteran was recognized as economically unprofitable and the ship was discomissioned soon after. The destroyer was finally scrapped in 1961.
War Thunder players are already quite familiar with the Type 1936 and Type 1936A destroyer classes, these are the workhorses of the Kriegsmarine at the lower and middle ranks in the bluewater fleet research. Today's hero is closest to the Type 1936A (Mob) version, created according to the Z32 destroyer references. The Z25 differs from the ship already in the game mainly in its armament - the middle turret of the main calibre was dismantled to accommodate a reinforced anti-aircraft battery.
Thus, we have a total of 4 150mm guns and good AA capabilities: ten 37mm guns in twin and single mounts, two quad, and four twin-barreled 20mm guns, plus another single 20mm gun to complete the AA goodness. A significant increase in anti-aircraft capabilities with some weakening of the main battery is a good compromise, isn't it? The mobility, torpedo armament, crew and other characteristics of the Z25 remained equal or approximately equal to the Type 1936A (Mob). The Z25 is a familiar, understandable ship, but with much more powerful anti-aircraft weapons.
The Type 1936A project Type 1936A destroyer Z25 can be obtained by completing the tasks in the second season of the War Thunder Battle Pass. Choose your prize - and go ahead, unique vehicles wait for you!

ok
Arrrr
Stona_WT, :(
nice photo shop, wonder when real devblogs will show up
This isn't real, is it? What is this? Where am I? What's going on here?!
I actually got to play a match in this ship on stream last night, got a test drive from one of the partnership managers; It's really good. Works best at countering classes other than itself like Cruisers, Aircraft, and PT Boats, but it loses against the better 4.3 Destroyers like the Fletcher and Type 1936. I don't know about the other rewards, but this one is really good.
Oh look....a boat -_-
I think the Germans deserve a premium Mirage.
Norfangl, I mean they all ready have just about everything else, heck they have better versions of other nations tanks at lower BRs too. Heck why not! Give em F14 as well. Even better! I'll draw a tank, make its origin country Antarctica, and we can give it to the German tech tree in an event. Seems Legit.
why is the techtree version in the video and not the battlepass version?
Thats not a real devblog... show something which isnt in the game already.
Add the O-I it existed! Get the data you need from FineMolds already!
What are you even talking about? The O-I was an UNFINISHED project prototype... there are NO definite papers or documentation of this thing... it would be a simple "fantasy tank" in War Thunder... Noone wants that.
Singler, I want it.
Why is Germany of all nations getting another ship? I understand it's battlepass ship, but for whatever reason Germany has the second largest blue water fleet in War Thunder (excluding premium ships) with the only bigger being Royal Navy and US Navy having the same amount of ships. As far as I remember Kreigsmarine wasn't all that big compared to IJN, US Navy or even Regia Marina.
You're right we have a lot to look forward to for the other nations how astute of you
It's fine because Germany's standard tree has no BR 4.3 destroyer in the rank III to help in fullfilling daily and special task.
great vehicle, cant wait to get my hands on it
giv new content or else i will release the trunk monkey
