MiG-21 PFM, Rank VI, USSR, Event
This vehicle will be the exclusive award in the “Operation W.I.N.T.E.R.” event.
During the modernization of the second generation of MiG-21 fighters, the Soviet military authorities demanded the design team to modify the aircraft for takeoff and landing from unpaved airfields. As a solution, the engineers proposed equipping the aircraft with a system for blowing the boundary layer from the flaps, and the Tumansky and Metskhvarishvili design bureau began developing a version of the R11F-300 engine with an air stream from the compressor. The boundary layer blowing system significantly improved the take-off and landing characteristics of the aircraft, the takeoff and run lengths were reduced, and the landing speed drastically reduced. Along with other modifications and improvements, the serial modification of the MiG-21 with the boundary layer blowing system began to be produced under the MiG-21 PFS index, later upgraded to the MiG-21 PFM version. Aircraft of this modification were produced in fairly large numbers since 1964, both for domestic use and export. The MiG-21 PFM served in Vietnam and Afghanistan.
In War Thunder, the MiG-21 PFM is a further development of the F-13 version. Offensive armament was dismantled, since it seemed to have finally lost its relevance in modern air combat. Nonetheless, the fighter could be equipped with a double-barreled cannon pod in the ventral container. The MiG-21 PFM has a radar, carries rockets and bombs, as well as two guided missiles of different models - air-to-air R-3S, or the new to the game H-66 air-to-surface missiles. A distinctive feature of the MiG-21 PFM is the boundary layer blowing system, which greatly simplifies takeoff and landing. Otherwise, it is the same magnificent MiG-21, with an excellent climb rate, great speed, easy controls and a good choice of weaponry for any game task. The MiG-21 PFM will become yours for completing the tasks of the in-game event “Operation W.I.N.T.E.R.”, and it will be worth your efforts!

Who cares. It's just gonna be a Harrier fest anyway. Game is just getting worse and worse
Yea, I was going to say it could be a solution but after playing MiG 21, It really wont be a solution to the harriers
since it got r60 removed, i hope that this have the same br as the f13
it won't have r60? Wihtout them at 10.7 it's hopeless
Before and after: Before: "The MiG-21 PFM has a radar, carries rockets and bombs, as well as two guided missiles of different models - air-to-air R-3R, R-3S or R-13M, or the new to the game H-66 air-to-surface missiles." After: "The MiG-21 PFM has a radar, carries rockets and bombs, as well as two guided missiles of different models - air-to-air R-3S, or the new to the game H-66 air-to-surface missiles." Why do you insist on not giving it the proper loadout that it got IRL?
The Soviet MiG-21PFM never had R-13M. This was only on export models. Its entirely correct as the dev blog states to have R-3S and Kh-66.
All answers (1)Smin1080p, Other than the R-13M, the PFM did carry the R-3R and RS-2US, both radar missiles. I don't really care which one is added to the PFM, but either way in the 1968 variation that you are adding, there was an R-3R added to the plane which means that you are taking away something that it historically had. At least you removed the R-60 and the flares that it never had.
because it then would be a pay to win super sonic
Dragon4Gaming, It's not a premium, and people won't spend GE on it unless they don't have to much time or don't to be in the event grind, which is their problem, but other people will grind for it the normal way, and those that want to keep it will struggle to survive in 10.0 Air RB because they grinded for a Mig-21 that historically has a good armament to deal with and a variety of loadouts, just to find out that it only has R-3s Missiles that are useless against their phantoms and others competitors in th...
ah i see what you did, you also just removed the 15G missles
there is a bug report with primary sources showing that the plane had K-13M, but smin is refusing to approve it. Meanwhile the Harrier GR.1 has SRAAM because he said so.
CMDR_Atkinson, welcome to War Thunder
we are getting closer and closer to Viggen. AW YEAH
Hope so
No. 1 on my wish list this for this year's W.I.N.T.E.R. ops. However I don't play Air modes so I have no idea if I can get it.
good luck. i doubt its worth it tho, i got Maxim Gorky last event and without having any other 5.7 boats to back it up and now the repair cost are more than doubled. so if i mange to get this im selling it on the market place despite how beautiful it looks
All answers (4)chewbaccy, Thanks! This would be my first jet. Besides, my country's air force flew this plane in the past so I really, really want it. I think I'll sell the other plane, the italian something.
Looks good, but per the very well sourced bug reports on both the ENG and RUS forums, it should have K-13M. I see it pictured with one. Maybe you make a typo?
Apparently only the export models had those and the PFM isn't getting them.
