New Location: New Zealand cape
Attention! Outdated news format. Content may not display correctly.
Let’s meet in the new location for naval battles from upcoming War Thunder update 1.95 "Northern wind"!
New Zealand is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Blossoming meadows and green hills neighbour rocky valleys and steep mountains, while the coastline is equally varied with picturesque bays and fjords.
We have created a new location for War Thunder naval battles based on the terrain of the southern island. “New Zealand cape” will appear in the rotation of naval battles with the release of War Thunder update 1.95 "Northern wind".

Can we *please* get some more realistic/modern large size battle maps that aren't cities? I'm sure a lot of the players with modern MBT's would appreciate that!
Hell yea!
You say that but... I haven't seen Fulda in rotation in a hot minute. I miss that map.
when gaijin is going to listen the community? we play the game everyday and you guys dont give a s*** about our opinion. I want to know when we going to get NEW REAL locations for GROUND battles, like a berlin 1961 with the wall and checkpoint charlie, large size modern maps that arent cities like iraq, kosovo, ukraine, the falklands, WHEN we gonna get this? when you guys gonna fix the economy?? WHEN WE GONNA HAVE SOME ATENTION?? I WANT A ANSWER!!
I'm glad no one is giving you attention (except me). Keep crying and maybe your tears will make a river that will lead to open water that will become a naval map. :)
Right i would love to see the map as cool as Berlin.
amazing, another map that looks exactly the same as the other 5 maps
Oh boy another naval map nobody asked for,
There is always a dick that complains about Naval stuff being added. Congratulations, you're that dick! We asked for this. Me and the minority of naval players. We exist, mr dick. So thank you very much Gaijin for keep giving us what we want and ignoring dicks like this mr dick.
Aeternull, Naval maps are easiest to make, Goes to show how little they care about the naval part of their community.
Where are the Hobbits?! I don't see dem Hobbits!!!!!!
In the 1.101 Hobbits update :D :D
That's because.. They're taking the hobits to Isengard!
Nice Looking Map! But Where Is The Gameplay And Content To Back This Up?
Could you not instantly shit on anything that is posted? Also, stop writing with capitals on all your words, that is blatantly wrong.
Snipermakedonski, It is a bit old how the game hasn't really fundamentally changed despite constant updates though. Air battles still play out the same, tank battles play out the same, etc. And new modes are denied because devs say players wouldn't understand them.
Any chance we will see a map like New York (for ground vehicles) in the future?
New York City*
War_Gaming_RUS, About which famous battle in NY?
Looks cool, small bit of feedback on these devblogs: it doesn't really paint a picture on what the playable area is and how the map is structured, maybe a topdown view of the whole map could help give a sense of where battles will take place on the map.
They used to post a map picture, but stopped doing so quite a while ago (after the first few naval maps). I presume it is because the map picture showed how close to symmetric the maps were (in other words: "perfectly" balanced but unrealistic).
Bruh moment
if you don't like it just ban this map from your settings when it comes otherwise don't screw up
What Cape is this based upon? It definitely doesn't look like Cape Reinga (the most famous Cape in New Zealand), Unless your implying that its based on Te Hapua, just past Expedition bay? Doesn't look much like any other areas around new zealand either. Sure there are mountains, But the closest mountains to the beaches are around 90 mile beach. Which is really just big sand dunes.
> We have created a new location for War Thunder naval battles based on the terrain of the southern island. They were inspired by the South Island. Admittedly I do not recognise any specific capes in the South Island from the images provided. I thought if they were going to use the South Island, a version of Milford Sound would have made for an interesting map with its network of waterways flanked by high hills/mountains. A place for smaller torpedo boats to zip around.
The_Kiwi, Just like every map based on a geographical location, they went heavy on 'inspired by'. Often you can find the general coastline somewhere within 500km range of the location they mention, but the islands are complete fabrications and the inland features are made up or brought from within a 1000km range.
