t-34 has at max 305mm in the sides of the mantlet. no armour point for the caernarvon.. t-34 has massive post pen damage and a 324mm apcr. Penetration is won, post pen too. For the reverse, it's much more important to have than a slightly better turn on the spot. Overall, the caernarvon has only the stabilizer, the reload and the apds more than the t-34. And to be even more sadistic, you could have done the t29 vs the caernarvon. Next time, amx-50 vs t-44-100
The Caernarvon has the same sort of overlapping mantlet edges that comes to around 300mm too. Also the APDS having 75mm less than it should doesnt really matter because there arent really any targets with more than 300mm of flat armor anyway, so APDS with 109mm at 60o has more useful penetration than the APCR.
*XreGenerations, caernarvon has just apds, reload and stabilizer, it's better at farer ranges, but t34 is a close quarter monster. They are actually not that comparable, because they only have in common the 6.7 br and the heavy tag, nothing else (and the lfp of course).
I've run in to quite a few Caernarvons and I really don't have any fond memories of those experiences. It's a nasty tank, especially head on. But that's pretty true for just about any British tank, very good survivability, not only will they survive, in short order, they're gonna throw it back at you and....well...T-34 has a nasty friggin gun, but it has a lot of weak spots on it that make it an easy target especially if it's not moving or well hidden.
T-34 gun, shell and post penn damage are miles ahead of pitiful APDS of the Brit. This vid, (as the whole game in fact) was clearly made by someone that doesn't play much of WT. It's (weirdly) still a good game thou.
I don't know why... the T34 just feels more mobile than the Caernarvon, and smoother ride
Crew?
I've had the T34 for quite some time, and drive it often in RB-mixed and Squadron Battles. I haven't found any problem out maneuvering other heavies, and love any fast scout tank or car driving into those MG's. However I am just short of having the Caernarvon so will have to delay making any comparison of my own. The HE round will hull break most any medium and you need to turn tank and turret to keep a fast mover in your sights in close-in fights. Beats driving Soviet options at this BR.
