I don't mean to nit pick, but the United States Air Force actually formed out of the United States Army Air Forces. The United States Army Air Corps was the predecessor to the United States Army Air Forces
Well yes but also the USAAC was formed from another Army organization that was formed from another, formed from another (etc) going all the way back to the US Civil war and the first aerial unit in 1862 which was made from the US Engineer and signal intel Corps in the form of the Union Balloon Corps. Army structures can have vastly different roles, structures, and missions, and while they may share lineage, there are reasons why new ones are formed, old ones abolished, or reformatted(technology, irrelevance, etc) The role the USAF serves was and still is significantly different to that the USAAC fulfilled and why it was created in the first place.
