Minefield Ahead! Try out the VS-8!
Insidious traps, equally dangerous for fast boats and for huge cruisers - naval mines! Today War Thunder commanders have a chance to learn more about a potential enemy weapon.
This is the first appearance of Naval Mines in War Thunder! In using the VS-8 "Schell I" you will help us test the mechanics of mines in real battles.
From 12:00 GMT on the 15th of November till 07:00 GMT on the 19th of November
Win 7 times with a battle activity of 50% or higher in naval battles whilst controlling a ship and get a 24 hour rental for the minelayer hydrofoil VS-8 "Schell I".
Event features:
- Vessels of all ranks are able to participate in the event.
- You can follow progress by clicking on your nickname → Achievements → Achievements → Special.
- You can only receive the VS-8 for rental once.
- The rental begins from the moment the task is completed and the boat is received.
- To participate in battle with the VS-8, the boat must be allocated to a crew slot. After the rental is finished, crew skills will not be reset and can be used in the future for any battles with the VS-8.
- Any RP and SL earned during the use of the VS-8 will not be reset after the rental is finished.
- In case of problems being found during testing, both the action itself and the possibility of using VS-8 "Schell I" may be suspended.

Quasimodo91, You're right, friend. I just read how you get to actually keep your gains after the rental expires. Very generous of them.
I'm seeing quite few complaints. You don't HAVE to get/play the VS-8. They make you earn it and make it very temporary to: cut down on it being spammed out and in hopes of more experienced/active players using it and giving feedback. If you're actively playing naval battles daily anyways, odds are you'll end up earning it without much additional effort. Otherwise, play a few matches each day and try to earn it. And if you don't, then you'll just have to wait for its official release.

really? whats the point of me playing for possibly a few hours to earn this boat just for it to be taken off me a day later?
well, no one is forcing you... but you may just get it anyway playing normally between the dates mentioned... it is limited, so not everyone will flood matches with the boat for days on end
Pacifica, He has a point though, not everybody is able to play 10 hours a day and I bet that once you do the event the rental will activate itself automatically, which is a bad mechanic. Let's say someone completes the 7 wins but have to go and next day they have an emergency and can't really play that day. They worked for nothing because the rental expired. if you'd give it for at least 2 -3 days it will be better and there will be more time available to test it.

Who is forcing you to waste 3 hours if you are going to play anyway ?? What I find ironic about that statement is that if you are going to play, you are bound to get the boat during the time listed anyway... soooooo.... you are welcome

I like naval but 7 wins for a rental? Seriously? What's wrong with letting us test something without having to grind for it?
This is a good point, but my guess is they want it tested by people who understand how to play naval battles tolerably well.
Conte_Baracca, Shouldve just made it available to people who own a destroyer pack. This is just annoying.

This is probably something that should have been tested during CBT.
CBT was more for setting up the initial scheme for how battles should go. Things like how sinking ships would work and wave effects on guns took priority. We're still in Open Beta for ships, and even more since this was probably an after thought, no reason why it can'e be implemented now.

Gonna be honest, just being a rental is not appealing enough for the effort. That said I will try my best to get it anyway, since I'm curious how the mines work.
Will this VS-8 be a premium in the future, or regular tree?
In the article 'Naval mines in War Thunder' (12 Oct), Gaijin stated "mines will be available as a modification for the premium German VS-8 boat".
Naga_Viper, I knew I saw somewhere this, but could not find it in above article so I thought I never saw it. So when will this new premium available?
I would like to try this new mechanic, but 7 wictories is really too much (even on paper it sounds easy, in reality it means at least 3 hours try-harding). 5 would be better for 24 hours rental. On the other hand this idea for testing new stuff is very good. I hope you guys will use this schema more often. Good job
it's just 7 victories with 50% activity not so much, just play normal and maybe you are lucky

To win a game in naval it doesn't depend on you but as a total team and with that being sed you probably have a 40/50% chance of winning. It will take hours if not a days for a normal person who isn't clustered to the screen to get it and to lose it 24 hours after that is just very dissapointing. This is not the proper way.
