American Desert, a new location for combined battles, will be released in War Thunder update 1.81. When creating this location our artists and designers were inspired by images of small towns in the US Southwest and the romantic style of the 60s. We used Page, Arizona as the inspiration for this location’s visual style. We’ve created many new assets for this location, including plant life, automobiles, and buildings that are characteristic of the location, as well as animated fire hydrants that shoot columns of water into the air if you drive over them.
The battles for this location will take place among the one- and two-story buildings typical of an American small town. There are a couple of small lakes and highways in the surrounding area. The town’s main square has four access points, as well as a few other firing locations. Another flashpoint for future battles is a residential area with small homes that are too small for even medium tanks to hide behind. Some areas can also be fired on from outside the town, where snipers can hide among rocks and small cliffs. The third capture point is a railroad station, and an animated train will drive down the tracks during battle. Tank commanders can destroy the train with gunfire, and the train itself can also ram tanks if they get in its way.
American Desert will be the first American location in War Thunder. We hope you like the simple, heartfelt style of a 1960s American small town.

Interesting map choice, but here's my question - will it be a good mix of city and open terrain like Poland (an ideal map for everybody) or will it be a poorly designed city clusterf*** with literally nothing in the open areas (if said open areas are playable map area at all) like Italy? Will there be rocks and crap that teleport into existence only when you zoom in on Italy or bushes/trees on Ardennes or will it be actually well-made?
Thank you ! always love new maps !!!
A new tak maps is nice and all, but WT needs more Air RB maps ! And the grind is os disgusting for average players they'll never reach Tier V or VI. Disspirited players don't invest in a game Gaijin ;) Make the grind fun/great again !
B0ris_the_blade makes much better maps then this one..... im disappointed.
you guys are artists for real! i am so impressed but not surprised, you guys have been making small/medium stuff with crazy details for a long time and you only make it a bit bigger this time. great freaking job guys! look, i never ask gaijin for stuff, but when i see this map, a very old hidden desire pops up, can you guys make a TOW Humvee? or TOW M151? imagine you drive an open top jeep cruising on this very desert map...just think about it...wind blowing through my hair and stuff...
Still waiting for my italian meme tonks to play with, but this is still a good fricking job!
Extremely beautiful map !! :)
why are people complaining about this not being historical? sure it's not near historical at all and it was never a battlefield but this map is glorious! Plus gaijin and historical accuracy went down the shitter a long time ago.
GAIJIN! WHERE IS MY SD KFZ 234/3 I HAD THE COUPON, DIDN'T USE IT, NOW IT IS GONE!!!!
oh, now it's back, BETTER NOT DISAPPEAR AGAIN!
More cities, REALLY? No self-respecting tanker would ever be in a city without infantry. As you can't implement infantry, perhaps you should do something like the southwest desert of Fort Irwin, CA (death valley) area instead of forcing players to fight in a city. Because in a city: - Less skill is required - All shots are point blank, completely mitigating some tanks armor - Since you don't model 3 sets of eyes just about every tank, your situational awareness is unrealistic
oh, wow, quit complaining, I do quite well in cities without people like you COMPLAINING about cities
DEVESTATOR2, So since you do well on a map you complain about people bringing up the unlikeliness of tanks fighting in a city? You have said nothing to counter my argument, provided nothing whatsoever to the conversation.
