The Supermarine Spitfire and North American P-51 Mustang: two legendary aircraft that are arguably considered among the most famous planes in history. Just think, wouldn’t it be amazing if, somehow, they could be mashed together to form the perfect flying machine. Well, this may not seem so far-fetched afterall…
Perhaps this is what inspired the designers of the Martin-Baker M.B.5 to create the ultimate fighter aircraft during WWII. It's gorgeous exterior is clearly reminiscent of the Mustang, and it’s powertrain a Rolls-Royce Griffon 83 V-12, provided for superior performance over it’s Spitfire cousin.

Nice plane, but isn't as easy to use as the Spitfire, and doesn't have the .50 death laser cannons of the later P51's, especialy with those outdated MK2's. If hispano's are balanced though, it could be a good contender.
Can't maneuver like a Spitfire, can't roll well at high speeds like the Tempests, terrible climber, so you need to climb for half an hour to store some energy, and even that way it flies like submerged in molasses. Surely the worst benefit-cost ratio of all premium planes.
~20 m/s climbrate is terrible? Allied pilots are too used to OP aircraft
_Wusten_, Thats just what it says on its info screen, but it cant keep that in RB/SB for more than a couple of minutes without serious engine overheating, with or without full engine controls. Without heavy sideclimbing, that places you too low, with no energy and and overheated engine. I play all nations, not allied only, and this is terrible whatever nation view/bias you use.
The wiki link points to the wiki main page and I can't find a page on the plane in question at all.
Just as accurate... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin-Baker_MB_5
Fixed, thanks!
Nigel heard of me!!!
mor music like whats in this video please......I love me some grunge
Preordered this and very much enjoying my purchase! Being a pure Boom 'n' Zoomer it's very different from your usual British fare and its straight line energy retention is superb. Learning how to use the Wyvern successfully was a good teaching aid for this monster :) My only minor qualm is that the cannons feel like they jam too quickly - hope it gets the Hispano "Mk. II year 1943" modification given to it soon like other aircraft of its era to fix this!
It will be 5.3 BR, kinda worry if it wont become a sealclubber.
"it will be 5.3" It's been at 5.3 for a while now.
Just pray the aircraft is more reliable than their ejection seats!
I bought this aircraft, but I jut like a unlit lighter. All premium aircraft caught fire so easily! It's literally a flame-magnet!
correction: * it behaved just like
I find it curious that while the article says "Intrigued? Learn more about this perfect specimen in the War Thunder Wiki!", the link provided sends you to Wikipedia page for the M.B. 5, and not the War Thunder wiki itself. Lost in translation, perhaps?
