In update 1.71 New E.R.A. we will introduce a lot of new features and one of them is a long anticipated gunner view for aircraft with one gunner position.
In update 1.71 New E.R.A. we implement new camera view for the defensive turret for more than 50 aircraft with one gunner position. The view has been moved as close to the weapon as possible, thus parallax effect is reduced. This view mode is enabled by default, but you can switch back to classic view in the settings.

That's right, it is a nice feature and it would be even more awesome if somebody could join the battle as a gunner in simulator battles.
Will you be able to shoot through tail? If yes, then there is no immersion.
for sim battles this shouldnt be an option to switch it off. This needs to be implemented for all gunners and has no option to turn off. idc if you can disable it for air RB but SB should be forced to use this, 3rd person is a big advantage when it comes to gunners.
Right now we cannot force it in any mode due to some difficulties. But we are one step closer, right?
Stona_WT, sure this is a awesome improvement but there are still going to be people who turn it off when flying SB. im not sure what the difficulties are as there is an option to not use realistic tank gun sights outside sim but you are still forced to use it in the sim mode. why cant we have it as an option to use in RB and AB but force people to use it in SB? perhaps you plan to change this in the future?

Really nice change. That being said, I do think only this view should be allowed in SB.
It should be required for SB. It can be in any other gamemode but SB you should be locked to this view when being the gunner.

They said Very soon™, so it's under a week. Although they also said they gonna change the warbonds mechanic, and perhaps because of this, they changed the current one's expire date to 13 days from 3 days, so they won't expire before patch, making it a maximum of 12/13 days. :))

Why is the gun sight not on the target? Is there an option to not use the sight?
that would depend highly on the mount, in the video and in these images these are mostly pintle mounts. meaning they swing along a fire arc from a central point on the gun, so when your front sight moves left the rear moves right. Often times this can be a bit difficult for a gunner to use the sights along the full range of movement as often times they are limited as to how far they can move thier bodies of POV around inside the planes cramped turret areas.

Do you have any plans to update small calibre guns mounted in planes and tank to have more detail, and be animated possibly in the future? The gun models are showing their age sadly :(
This is gonna make happy a lot of sim pilots with LESS unfair 3rd person gunner view. Multi turret heavy bombers are still a problem.
