Dear Pilots and Tankers!
On the 9th of May, the War Thunder Team met the Victory Day together with some of our players in Odintsovo, near Moscow in Russia. Those in attendance could try the latest model of the Oculus Rift, participate in draws for souvenirs and of course, just chat with the developers. The highlight of the event was the presentation of new vehicles. In Odintsovo, our guests heard first hand about the future plans of the development of the game.
Today, we will reveal the inside information to all and will show you two interesting new vehicles to be added with one of the incoming updates!
Douglas B-18 Bolo
The majority of countries did not have the vehicles that met the high requirements of the military command. The US, for instance ,did not have a good medium bomber - and it was civil aviation that solved the problem. Not unlike the Germans that created their He.111 based on a passenger aircraft, the Americans adapted the civil B-18 to military needs. The “Bolo” could carry an impressive bomb load.
IТ-1
Now let us introduce some completely new gameplay - the first but not last rocket tank which was armed with guided missile weaponry! The chassis of the T-62 carrying no guns, just 15 deadly guided missiles. An enemy behind a hill? No problem for an experienced gunner! IT-1 - one of the first rocket tanks armed with ATGMs in War Thunder.
Follow the news in our Devblog, where we will inform you about all the new vehicles of incoming updates!
We would also like to thank our partners - MSI, ZyXEL, SteelSeries and Nvidia - for their support.
The War Thunder Team

IT-1 is for a purchase?
Yea, i think it'll probably be a premium as every tank/halftrack in the game with rockets is a premium...
but there are no Tier V Prem´s only two rare vehilces as far as I am aware (E100, this russian jet which name i dont remember)
Reactive Armor in next patch ?! Because you know , ATGM.
No ERA, or Composite. The game engine dies from the calculations. Also tis' why there are no heat seeking missiles.
And flares/smoke.
So the T-62 based ATGM launcher will arrive in the game much sooner than the original T-62? Despite the fact that the NATO counterparts of the T-62 are already in the game for more than a half year? That doesent sound too balanced, Gaijin.
But the current top tier Russian tanks still are easily capable of countering the Chieftain & Leopard, which I assume you're referring to. The Leo relies on agility, not armour, and is very easy to kill. The Chieftain relies on its gun and moderate manoeuvrability as its armour, while certainly not bad, is not the best. Thus, there is no real need to add the T-62. The IT-1 is certainly an interesting tank & I'll be curious in seeing how it performs as it can't dive into cover like mos...
lol leopard is a joke, still best medium in this game is t54 1951
Any news about the tournament prizes? Do you plan to give them out today?
The IT-1 needs to be atleast 15000GE if it is premium... that thing would be OP..
How would putting it behind a paywall make it being op (if it even will be op) any better? That will just make it pay2win
with the IT-1 being added do you really want to open this pandoras box too gaijin?
When will there be TOG
Colonel_Hogan2, new we have TOG2
Are...these the only two vehicles so far...? Or are there going to be more announced here soon?
There is a new jet too, it looks like some sort of MiG, again. And tanks, there is going to be an ASU-57
And guessing from there being an 57mm ASU there might be a 85mm too.
let me guess, premium only...... anything intresting in this game is only premium vehicle.
I say no to ur crap, let all ppl enjoy game and put some crazy grind or stop it.
@Lordikianer - What are you on about? It doesn't say researchable anywhere in the article...
Well War Thunder got guided missiles down pat, But i would consider War Thunder to add more rank slots like Rank 6 or Rank 10 since it feels like a more late cold war modern tank for tanks like the IT-1, M60s, Leopard 1, T-62 because the HEAT missile IT-1 fires will be more op then the HEAT round the leopard 1s fire and since there is no tank with ERA to stop the missile and Rank 5 being the highest lvl and the BR puts Rank 4 in Rank 5 matches.
Basically the IT-1 is a counterpart of the M60A2 Starship
A HEAT missile is only more accurate at long ranges a gun is still better, because of the speed the shell moves (a HEAT-FS from a 105mm travels 5x as fast as the missile) additional this missile can only be fired with a minimum range of 300m. I made some calculations for info: to reach a target 1000m away the missile travels about 4-5 sec while a shell does the same distance in less than a second. it will not be more OP than a tank gun firing HEAT-FS.
