The most recent shell type introduced to War Thunder was the Fin-Stabilized High Explosive Anti Tank shell, or HEAT-FS in short. Developed as an improvement to the standard HEAT grenade, this post-war shell is capable of penetrating even the strongest armour. Today, we'll have a look at the Do's and Don'ts of this equipment.
Already an expert at slinging HEAT-FS at your enemies in high-ranked battles? Tell us and your fellow players about your tips and tricks in combat!
The War Thunder Video Tutorials are a series of video guides created to equip the Community with the means necessary to compete on the fierce battlefields of War Thunder. Featuring the crew of the Igromania gaming magazine, they offer a player-focused insight on the game's mechanics, playstyle guides as well as tips and tricks to those who want to master the game. How well do the shields of the E-100 protect the side hull ?
"We did 60 shots, 60 kills." "Our hopes of one-shotting is crushed." Are you fooling with us, Gaijin?
on that tank. neither of the other two tanks tested where one-shotted all the time. Really they where just showing that while it is a powerful round it can't kill everything one shot.
Why didn't the controle tests (the 50/60 shots from close range) consist of the T-54's and T-44's? Is it because the ammunition on those tanks are quite confusingly more resilient to the power of heat shells? I have experienced shooting HEAT-FS at these two medium tanks directly in the ammunition and it does not detonate. In one experience I shot a T-44's ammunition so many times that I ended up killing all the crew instead of detonating its ammunition-about 4 HEAT-FS shells were used from M-103
I don't think the commentator truly understands how top tier tank battles work. Especially the Maus part, you never should shoot at the Maus UFP if both the cannon breech and the gunner are still intact, that's how you get yourself killed. Also, he simply forgot to mention that if the Maus happens to have a full load of 75mm secondary ammo, you can easily ammorack it from the turret (you can see that in the X-ray view after shooting the gunner so you don't even have to guess now).
I also hate the new website comment system, not sure if it's just me but the forum had a bit more feedback than this.
I honestly never used the forum as I could not be stuffed.
I understand the point they're making here - but look at the Chieftain example: The Leopard destroyed the barrel, meaning that the Chieftain wouldn't be able to fire back, and the Leopard's next shot would be taken at the turret or lower plate
