Today we’re taking a look at some early screenshots and information about the Agusta Westland AW159 Wildcat attack helicopter, coming to Great Britain in the next major update!
The AW159 Wildcat is a modern multi-role helicopter developed to meet the joint requirements of the British Army and Royal Navy. This helicopter features advanced avionics and modern guided weaponry, equipped with a modern radar and an onboard defensive systems consisting of an RWR and countermeasures.
We’ve already created the general geometry of the AW159 model and are now working on the details for it. Just from these screenshots alone, you can see just how complex the model is turning out to be. It’s going to be even cooler when the camouflage is made, which we’ll show you soon!
Work on adding the armament is proceeding separately, as this will determine the AW159’s rank and Battle Rating. It’s already clear that the AW159 is set to be a strong alternative to the Lynx and Apache. We’re making the Martlet, a small guided missile that will be new to the game, specifically for the AW159. This helicopter will be able to carry a substantial amount, either 5, 10 or even 20 at once! While these missiles will struggle to destroy MBTs, they are quite effective against lightly armored vehicles and other helicopters. We’ll be carefully looking at the new missile’s performance to ensure the Wildcat finds its rightful place in the research tree.
We’re also working on pods featuring a special variant of the SPIKE ATGM for the AW159. Whether the AW159 will receive these missiles entirely depends on preliminary testing, as they would significantly increase the helicopter’s Battle Rating.
Keep patient, as soon we’ll publish a full dev blog on the AW159 Wildcat once the model, camouflage and weaponry is ready. That’s it for today’s news, the full dev blog season will start very soon, so stay tuned and keep an eye out for the first one!
Please note that vehicle specifications and model visuals may be subject to revision and change before being added to the game.
