In October 1911, the battleship Gangut was launched, named after the Battle of Gangut, the Russian Empire’s first naval victory. After the First World War, the ship remained inactive for a long period; it was subsequently refitted in 1925 and renamed Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya (October Revolution). At the start of the Second World War it was redeployed to Kronstadt, where between 1941 and 1943, it engaged German forces positioned near Leningrad with artillery fire. Although the Luftwaffe made numerous attempts to sink the battleship, it survived every bombing raid and artillery barrage. In 1943, it helped lift the Siege of Leningrad and continued to support Soviet offensive operations in the Baltic region until the summer of 1944.
, earn mission points in Naval Battles, unlock stages and receive rewards!
The battleship Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya is the fourth and final ship of the Sevastopol class, originally laid down before the First World War. In the game, she appears in her post-war modernized configuration, featuring an enhanced anti-aircraft battery and radar. Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya is a ship with no glaring weaknesses, boasting a powerful broadside and solid protection. Her tall superstructure makes aiming easier at long ranges and houses part of her extensive anti-aircraft armament. In combat, Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya excels against cruisers but also holds her own against other battleships thanks to effective main-battery shells. The key is to maintain the right distance!
