Download Wallpaper:

The Heavy Cavalry major update brings a variety of vehicles for all nations, from the Welkin and IA.58A Pucara to the new Abrams variants and USS North Carolina! For ground locations, we’ve improved the visuals of Ash River and Winter Ardennes, all while retaining their familiar layouts. Rewards for aircraft crashing near your vicinity without taking damage, new damage models and MFD screens, man-in-the-loop, and aiming points for salvo firing are some of the features that we’ve worked on in this update to help improve several quality of life aspects of the game.

Check out the changelog to see all the improvements, vehicles and other features that we’ve included in this major update.

Naval weaponry

  • A mechanic for transferring ammunition between magazines containing identical shells has been added. To prevent situations where one or more guns stop firing due to depletion or detonation, automatic transfer of identical shells from other magazines, if available, has been added. A short time after a magazine is empty, it will begin to replenish from other magazines. Replenishment occurs either until a certain time has elapsed (this varies for different calibers, but no longer than two minutes) or until the quantities in both magazines are equal. The transfer time for one shot depends on the ship’s caliber and size. The number of shells transferred at a time depends on the number of guns in the turrets supplied by the magazine being replenished.

Naval modifications and crew skills:

  • The display of a maximum spotting distance in the crew training window in the “Observers” tab in a tooltip for a “Surface targets detection distance” option has been fixed. Previously, the values in the “top” column were underestimated and didn’t reflect the true spotting distances. Now, the value calculations are conducted for the target of the same size as the ship in the crew slot. The deprecated parameters related to the target recognition have been removed from the tab.

Naval characteristics, physics and damage model

  • All ships with steam boilers now have a boiler explosion mechanic under certain conditions.
    • The force of the explosion depends on the current pressure in the boiler, which is not constant and depends on the engine telegraph gear. The greater the gear (forward and reverse), the higher the pressure.
    • At full speed, the pressure is maximum. At low speed, the explosion is weakest. And at neutral, it cannot occur at all.
    • The buildup of critical pressure also does not occur immediately and not always after the destruction of any of the boiler room modules. But if this does happen, there is always time to prevent an explosion. The lower the engine telegraph gear, the more time there is to notice the pressure buildup and to shut off the engine, preventing an explosion.
    • The danger can be detected by the effect of steam escaping in the area of the damaged boiler and the characteristic sound of steam escaping from the boiler room. If the engine telegraph gear can be reset to neutral in time, an explosion will not occur. If the ship continues moving, the boiler will explode. This isn’t a fatal explosion; its power can’t compare to the detonation of, say, an ammo rack. But nearby modules could be damaged.
  • Commandant Dominé — the aiming angles of the aft 100 mm gun on the left side have been corrected. The gun no longer elevates when going around an invisible obstacle. (Report).

  • A “Favorites” category has been added for decals and decorations. You can add a favorite from the menu on the customization screen by clicking the icon or from the “Player Profile - Decals” menu.
  • Default Camouflage Selection: You can now designate any unlocked camouflage as your "default" skin, which integrates with the automatic camouflage system in battle. Here's how it works:
    • If you set a specific camouflage as your default and don't own any other camo that matches the biome of the map, your chosen default will be used instead of the stock skin.
    • If your chosen default camouflage matches the map's biome and you also own another camo for that same biome, your designated default takes priority.
    • If your chosen default camouflage is set for one biome (e.g., forest) but you own a different camo that matches the current map's biome (e.g., winter), the matching camo will be applied automatically rather than your default.
    • Only one camouflage can be set as default at a time. Assigning a new default will remove the status from the previous one. To revert back to the original stock skin as your default, you'll need to manually set it as "Standard."
  • New naval decal sets have been added and are available for completing missions or for purchase with Golden Eagles:
    • Japan — Navy
    • China — Aviation and Ground Vehicles
    • Italy — Navy and Ground Vehicles
    • France — Navy

  • Some older hidden decals have been added permanently. These include several Italian and British aircraft markings, as well as decals for Japanese ground vehicles.

  • A new window displaying lists of specific vehicles available for purchase has been added: vehicles with a limited sale period and vehicles at a discount. The window can be opened by clicking the labels in the hangar: on the “Research” button, on the nation above the crew slot bar or on the vehicle itself. The game also now features vehicles with limited-time sales, often at a discount. Previously, such vehicles were only available for purchase during certain in-game events and promotions.
  • Projectile tracking has been improved — when you click on a weapon you've fired on the tactical map (default key: M), the HUD will now show both the weapon's name and its current speed, making it easier to track.

  • A “crash reward” mechanic has been added: if an aircraft crashes without taking damage, the nearest enemy player within a 3 km radius of the crash site is credited with a destruction. The reward is 50% of the standard reward and includes Silver Lions, Research Points, and Mission Points. The reward for a player who bails out of an aircraft has been unified with the “crash reward” and is also 50% of the standard reward.
    • Both mechanics work in Arcade and Realistic battles (air, tank, sea), as well as in Ground Simulator battles, and are disabled in Air Simulator battles.
  • Now, when calculating the reward for a player who crashed or abandoned an aircraft, not only nearby players are taken into account, but also the guided missiles they launched.
  • A multiple aiming points mechanic with the corresponding keybinds has been added. The abilities to add the points, remove them, correct the aiming points, link and unlink the weapons to the specific points, as well as salvo dropping the weapons onto the points have been added. You can also control the aiming points via the tactical map: add them with Alt+LMB, remove with Alt+RMB, select and move the point with LMB.

  • The compression format of all ground vehicles textures has been changed from DXT5 to BC7 to improve their quality. The visual texture compression artifacts have become way less noticeable, including the blocky and color banding artifacts. The GPU load when unpacking the textures and the total file size have remained virtually the same, but this switch to another compression method requires a one-time download of about 20 GB of changed textures for the standard client and 35 GB for clients with ultra-high quality for ground vehicles textures.
  • The ambient occlusion (AO) maps of all ground vehicles have been updated to be more physically-correctly rendered in the game. The changes are more noticeable in low-light environments: previously many areas on tanks became too dark under such conditions.
  • An effect of aircraft tailhooks interacting with arrestor hooks has been added.
  • Visual effects when an aircraft moves on snow or a snow-covered runway have been reworked.
  • Support for motion vectors has been implemented: visual effects have become smoother and cleaner in motion.
  • Tor-M1 (all variants), Sky Sabre, HQ11, LOSAT — visual effects for the main and auxiliary missile engines have been reworked.
  • Bloom parameters have been adjusted: the precision and radius have been changed so that large explosions, sunlight, and glare look natural, without excessive glare or artifacts.
  • Volume in large effects: massive explosions and smoke clouds now feature advanced internal light scattering, adding depth and tangibility.
  • Smoke after a fire: now, after successfully extinguishing a fire, a fading smoke trail remains on ships.

  • You can now bind actions in the Control settings to short, long or double presses of keys.

  • The ability to connect the tactical map to the WT Assistant mobile app via a QR code has been added. A “Show QR for Assistant” button has been added to the spawn screen and in-game settings. Tap it, scan the code with your phone’s camera, or scan it in the WT Assistant (Tactical Map section), and the map will sync with the game in real time.

  • Hawk 209 — the Battle Rating has been increased by one step in all modes. From 10.7 to 11.0 in Arcade Battles, from 10.3 to 10.7 in Realistic and Simulator Battles.
  • Tornado IDS MLU (RET.8) — the Battle Rating in Ground Realistic Battles has been increased from 11.3 to 11.7.
