One guided missile to demolish tanks and aircraft alike? You got it! War Thunder is on the cusp of featuring an air defence anti-tank system based on the Bradley IFV chassis.
The ADATS was developed at the end of the 1980’s as a general-purpose weapon capable of bringing down low-flying airborne targets as well as armoured opponents. Hence the abbreviation: Air Defence Anti-Tank System. The system was comprised of radar for detecting and tracking targets, a complex radio kit for coordinating multiple vehicles, and eight MIM-146 guided missiles in transport and launch containers. The US Army version was built on the Bradley IFV chassis and fitted with a 25mm auto cannon. Notwithstanding the fact that it was selected after a US Army competition for the Forward Area Air-Defence program, it was found to be excessively expensive to manufacture and never made it to serial production on the Bradley chassis.
ADATS (Bradley). Air defence anti-tank SPG system, USA, rank VII.
Pros
- One missile for any target!
- Radar
- Cannon capable of handling IFVs and anti-aircraft vehicles
Cons
- Poorly armoured
- Fairly prominent profile
In War Thunder the ADATS Bradley will appear in update 1.89 at the rank VII of the USA ground vehicle tech tree. It’s average in terms of speed and manoeuvrability, its armour only stands up to bullets, and the hulking ADATS dimensions make it fairly conspicuous, especially when the radar antenna is active...
But who cares about that when you have your hands on the controls of a weapon capable of knocking out anything that crosses your sites? Eight all-purpose guided missiles with radio fuses will find their way to the sneakiest chopper in the sky, chase down fleeing aircraft, and even torch tanks – they penetrate up to the equivalent of 900mm of rolled homogeneous steel.
And the rhythmic chatter of the 25mm autocannon will be the last thing enemy anti-aircraft vehicles and IFVs hear thanks to the APCR shells that come even with the stock belt. Fantastic! Sure, the rate of fire leaves something to be desired, but having that cannon sure comes in handy when you really need it.
The ADATS Bradley is a worthy answer to the Tunguska when it comes to War Thunder’s fields of battle. One missile for any target is an unusual and promising solution. So, shall we see what happens with update 1.89 and put this vehicle through its paces in some higher-ranked battles?

If we don't get the Leclerc this patch tell us early, last patch you waited far too long to just tell us in the comments that the French were not getting the Leclerc
Now what is the sense to fly with the helicopters in the mix battles?
being alive for like 10 seconds max, since there is always some Tunguskas up.
Hopefully a proper British supersonic jet and British missile AA this patch to :)
We can only hope
EE Lightning could be added right now...it wouldnt even be unbalanced.
Glad to see the Tunguska wasn't enough. Now we need more unbalanced SAMs instead of adding things that can easily be balanced. What's next? A bloody Starstreak?
War is unbalanced
Well if everyone is getting missle AA j want my star streak for the brits
idk about you gijin and the other players... its only me thinking that these anti air missiles ruining CAS to the ground.... like no more CAS befor redar added spaa top tier were efected against all type of jets perfectly.... now tunguska and this thing please war thunder i beg you let us play and have fun! game its all about the fun you having i dont wanna leave top tier for ever i want to play top tier mix battle (the best mode ever made) and have fun ty i hope youl listening I LOVE THIS GAME
CAS is cancer, its good they are adding these
Verniy_Chan, but these Misseles are unbalanced, they can kill Jets and vehicles.Thats not what an AA is supposed to do.
I'd rather have these dreadful SAMs removed. Sim battles are a no-fly zone for NATO teams, as a SINGLE Tunguska can take out NATO planes from long ranges and ensure the safety of their helis. Adding the ADATS will only enlarge the problem, rendering helicopters completely useless. Also, the ADATS is ridiculously powerful agaisnt tanks as well, the M6 Linebacker or the LAV-AD would have been more balanced. And if you are going to add these radar sams, give us RWR systems and SEAD aircraft
Why a tank??? i want naval stuff.
You'll get naval stuff.
Why nava stuff?? i want a tank
Time to assert dominance over air and ground. Now with proper missiles.
No, that was what V2 was for.
So you just want aircraft to not exist in tank battles anymore? That's fine, but in that case you had better remove them from lower battle ratings too
An SPAA that has missles which penetrates more armor than most atgms and travels 800m/s? Working as intended™
still weaker than what russia got... we all know the reason why
