One guided missile to demolish tanks and aircraft alike? You got it! War Thunder is on the cusp of featuring an air defence anti-tank system based on the Bradley IFV chassis.
The ADATS was developed at the end of the 1980’s as a general-purpose weapon capable of bringing down low-flying airborne targets as well as armoured opponents. Hence the abbreviation: Air Defence Anti-Tank System. The system was comprised of radar for detecting and tracking targets, a complex radio kit for coordinating multiple vehicles, and eight MIM-146 guided missiles in transport and launch containers. The US Army version was built on the Bradley IFV chassis and fitted with a 25mm auto cannon. Notwithstanding the fact that it was selected after a US Army competition for the Forward Area Air-Defence program, it was found to be excessively expensive to manufacture and never made it to serial production on the Bradley chassis.
ADATS (Bradley). Air defence anti-tank SPG system, USA, rank VII.
Pros
- One missile for any target!
- Radar
- Cannon capable of handling IFVs and anti-aircraft vehicles
Cons
- Poorly armoured
- Fairly prominent profile
In War Thunder the ADATS Bradley will appear in update 1.89 at the rank VII of the USA ground vehicle tech tree. It’s average in terms of speed and manoeuvrability, its armour only stands up to bullets, and the hulking ADATS dimensions make it fairly conspicuous, especially when the radar antenna is active...
But who cares about that when you have your hands on the controls of a weapon capable of knocking out anything that crosses your sites? Eight all-purpose guided missiles with radio fuses will find their way to the sneakiest chopper in the sky, chase down fleeing aircraft, and even torch tanks – they penetrate up to the equivalent of 900mm of rolled homogeneous steel.
And the rhythmic chatter of the 25mm autocannon will be the last thing enemy anti-aircraft vehicles and IFVs hear thanks to the APCR shells that come even with the stock belt. Fantastic! Sure, the rate of fire leaves something to be desired, but having that cannon sure comes in handy when you really need it.
The ADATS Bradley is a worthy answer to the Tunguska when it comes to War Thunder’s fields of battle. One missile for any target is an unusual and promising solution. So, shall we see what happens with update 1.89 and put this vehicle through its paces in some higher-ranked battles?

skip the hate guys i can't wait for this vehicle
I am very glad to see this vehicle in the game, and I also enjoy Tunguska. Yes I met planes being able to avoid my Tunguska-rockets while it is effective and fun to fight with. This kind of weapons are effective but they are also vulnerable to strafing planes. I also use planes in GF RB, and I enjoy the risky scenes and the more realistic game play. Gaijin obviously works hard and push forward to make a better experience, true not without bugs. In reality there is no balance, but possibilities.
"I also enjoy Tunguska" enought said... of course you enjoy being in OP vehicle destroying game experience for everyone else, cheer mate...we had broken heli with 16 atgms which should never ve been added, and they solved it with even more op trash... and now we are getting even more op trash, because people like you enjoy it ;)
CARC, I also use helicopters. I have also experienced a lot of various bugs. A made complaints when I could because of the compound and hard bug report system. There is a lot to do and a lot of problems, I agree. But the style how you speak is out of normal. You cannot respect my efforts to get eg. the Tunguska. My planes were also shot down by Tunguskas several times. And my tanks were destroyed by helicopters more times. Despite of this, yes I enjoy the game. Why is it bad?
I just love to read all the crying of 'cap the circle, j-out' flyboys who love to ruin the game for tankers ,but now when they get taste of their own medicine, they can't cope with it. LAMO!
So one vehicle, completely broke back of all air vehicles. And in the future we gonna have one of these monsters for every nation? Guys play your own game, try to spawn in air and last more then 30 sec until some tunguska noob gets you... You should ve increase SP for tunguska and not destroy 10.0 even more with more of these broken vehicles.
I recommend You to elite your units much more intensively, otherwise how should you see the proper work and effectiveness of the vehicles? In case your stats are up to date, You have a lack of elite or expert units. Why do you want to ruin the others' experience using a tech tree vehicle? It is absolutely unfair this way. You are not the only one to use planes and helicopters. Did you make a comment, when helis ruined whole teams, or enjoyed it?
I hope you are preparing a similar vehicle for the Germans, as most of the top tier battles are German vs. Russians, Germans vs. USA, Germans vs. everyone, I don't see a solution in it until both parties have the required equipment. It is nonsense to add only for allies and watch what's happening.
Not gonna happen dude. Maybe the experimental Geaprd with Stingers, but they are Fire-And-Forget missiles. So , thats a firm no. And because it is german it will cost 3x than other SPAA with Rockets. Look at 2S6, ist costs 8.900SL raw with 8 Rockets and 4x 30mm autocannons an 1936 rounds of ammo. Gepard costs 8.550 raw with only 2x 35mm autocannons and only 750 rounds and NO(!) missliles. 2S6 should cost at LEAST 20k since it dominates the entire airspace in game! Every Rocket should cost 1k.
As far as i know, we got something in mind / development, but i'm not sure it will come with this update.
also add nuclear bomb please, why to bother with balance
Could the Stormer (HVM Starstreak) be an SPAA option for the Brits?
Ah shit, here we go again.
*insert random "Germany Suffers" comment here*
