The son of a Major of the Royal Engineers, Douglas Robert Steuart Bader was born on February 21st 1910 in St. John’s Wood, London. Educated at St. Edward’s School in Oxford, the aggressive Bader’s school years were most notable for his sporting achievements, particularly as a rugby player.
