October Ace of the Month - Lieutenant Colonel Boris Safonov

Born in the village of Sinyavino in August 1915, Boris Froktistovich Safonov was raised in a peasant family before studying at an industrial school. Twice decorated as a Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as the Order of Lenin and three Orders of the Red Banner, Lieutenant Colonel Boris Safonov was the first of the great aces of the Soviet Union.

Captain György Debrődy

György Debrődy was one of the most successful Hungarian fighter aces of the Second World War. Flying Bf109s supplied by Germany, Debrődy fought against the forces of the Soviet Union and the USAAF. He was awarded many of his nation's most prestigious decorations and was one of the top scoring aces of all Germany's allies in the European Theatre of Operations.
