The whole story of Gulaev appears to be a sequence of remarkable deeds. For instance, on May 14th 1943 he engaged 3 Ju.87 bombers covered by 4 Bf.109 fighters. After shooting two Stukas down and depleting the ammunition Gulaev rammed and destroyed the third one, managing to land his own aircraft near an allied unit’s position.

Mexican president Manuel Ávila Camacho desperatly wanted to accept the challenge thrown down by the Axis countries; and so he assigned a Mexican Air Force unit to the United States Army Air Force fighting in the Pacific.

A design bureau headed by Artiom Mikoyan (assisted by M. Gurevich and V. Romodin) was founded on December the 8th 1939. It’s name MiG and it was an abbreviation of two names - Mikoyan and Gurevich.

It started quickly. At 7.55am on Sunday 7 December 1941, the first wave of two Japanese aircraft flotillas began their deadly and low flying attack on the US Pacific Fleet, moored at Pearl Harbor on the Pacific island of Oahu.

Within a very limited time period and harsh weather conditions the soviet troops had prepared an attack that was meant to push the front line for 100 km.  As a result the Germans were defeated with several divisions being completely destroyed.

The DB-7 / A-20 was a winner for Douglas Aircraft, as it provided everything an army wanted, but it was rapidly becoming obsolete in the face of new fighters, bombers, and demands. On 10 July 1942 the improved A-26 took off for the first time and the test pilots praised its performance right away.

Seventy one years ago, on November the 19th 1942 the Red Army had launched a counter-offensive at Stalingrad, this was known as the Operation Uranus.

US help to overseas allies allowed the Americans to delay their  entry into the war in Europe, adjusting the economy and army for the future major clash with Germany.

The attack on Rosyth was launched on the 16^th of October, 1939, it was a significant moment in the war, where crucial lessons would be learned that would be used in the Battle of Britain.
