And in the Spearhead major update, we’re pleased to say that we’re updating the Carpathians map for ground battles. As with other locations that have been in rotation for a long time, our main goal is to refresh the appearance while preserving the familiar geometry and navigation. Let’s check it out!
All environmental objects on this location have been completely redesigned. From the fields and rocks, to the terrain itself, buildings and ruins, they’ve all been recreated from scratch. Detailed rocks and pathways have been added, and all vegetation, such as grass, bushes and trees have been replaced and improved.
The overall climate of the location has changed a little as well. The map is now greener, which is typical for the warm surroundings of the Carpathian Mountains. The central part of this location, which was previously covered with fresh trenches, dugouts and bunkers, is now covered with grass. The fighting here ended six months ago, and nature has begun to reclaim the area.
The ruins of the fortress and watchtowers have been significantly improved visually. In addition to the graphical enhancements with the addition of moss and climbing plants, the ancient structures now have foundations and bases, which makes the architecture more realistic.
One of the legends of the Carpathian Mountains is the tale of Syn and Vir, the daughter of a count and simple shepherd, who were in love with each other. The tyrannical count ordered Vir to be killed, and the tender-hearted Syn shed bright blue tears at the place of her lover’s death, which which bloomed into a magnificent mountain lake. Following our tradition, we’ve included an Easter Egg inspired by this melancholy Carpathian legend of these two inseparable lovers!

Comments will be premoderatedNote that this is intended as constructive criticism. Please rethink the way you rework maps. At their core, almost, if not every, rework so far has boiled down to the maps being flooded with visual clutter for "aesthetics" that make gameplay less intuitive and fun. The core issues are still left or even worsened in some cases, broken hitboxes are left as is and extended passive (generally straight lines into spawn outside of objective areas) parts of the maps are either added or left ...
Could not have said it better
It's not even aesthetics. There shouldn't be random rock formations in every section of the map. Rock formations exist for a reason and they don't just pop out in the middle of fields. I don't think Gaijin used an exact place for reference but look at Spiš Castle. You'll only see rock formations in the mountain edges.
this is D point's map
It was, yes.
Stona_WT, Wheres the D point stona.. when will it be comming back stona.. I cant live without it..
A balanced maps would be a way more impressive addition to the game than a visual updates to broken maps. These visual updates don't adress the core issues within the game's maps, which is the design.
real
Why remove the trenches? If it's a battle zone it should look like one.
you must do something with top rank maps , current maps were made for ww2 era , we need maps for modern tanks
Carpathians are one of the most one-sided maps in game as of today, id like to see some more coverage on the C point after you are leaving the corridor leading from spawn, or alternatively cover the sniping position from the entrance to the fortress where you have a clear visuals to the enemies coming to C
My GTX 750TI probably crying rn...
an OG card, i respect it.
There is a big issue gaijin, the traction physics of the tanks are really really unreal. ever you are going to work on it? how can a TANK struggle to climb a small hill!!!
is my GPU good enough for you Gaijin
Its never good enough
Gorgeous looking! Keep them coming!
It is!
