Stalingrad, the site of dramatic events around the Stalingrad Tractor Factory during the liberation of the city on the Volga during the Second World War, is a veteran location that came to the game nearly 10 years ago. Ever since, it has become a classic battleground for Ground Battles in War Thunder! However, time moves on and we’ve strived to give this location a fresh look while preserving all of the familiar gameplay features that make Stalingrad so beloved. So bundle up, as we’re heading into the brutal Russian winter!

To give Stalingrad an updated look, we focused on reworking every element of the map’s environment from scratch — from the remains of metal structures and lampposts, to the factory buildings and railway platforms.

Buildings, roofs, train cars, coal piles and numerous ruins now have a completely new level of detail, and all major objects in the wintery Stalingrad now feature snowdrifts and icicles.

Try not to slip over! The location has been updated with track markings in the mud on the well-worn roads, frozen puddles glimmer with ice here and there, and glimpses of last year’s grass peek out from under the snow.

We’ve also updated the aircraft areas of this location! The winter forest now looks more authentic, the frozen river has a realistic ice crust with different ice colors for different depths, and snowdrifts have been added too.

We’re aware of the importance of preserving recognizable routes and familiar cover, so we’ve aimed to preserve all game geometry as much as possible, meaning you’ll feel right at home in regards to combat when playing on the updated Stalingrad.

That’s it for this one! Everyone will be able to try the newly updated Stalingrad location very soon. Until then, have a good one!

For me personally, I liked the older side of this map. Only thing I genuinely disliked was the fact it was a snow map. I think it would be tons better if it wasn't a snow map.
I recall when this map was released... I was in middle school at that time... Great news!
these improovments are really nice, but on improoved maps my FPS went from fix 120 to 50-60, (sometimes even less) which is reeeeeally anoying, and idk why.
New maps are more CPU demanding. I need to get a new mobo+cpu myself, 4070 being bottlenecked barely getting 60fps.
could be a culling issue, hard to say, tho that depends on how old your parts are
stop messing up with my fps
Nice, this new graphic of this map reminded me game series Metro
is the gameplay getting any better tho?
Subtle but interestingly, good to see the heart of the map remains.
I really like the re-lighting of this map or whatever, it gives the game a more modern feel, especially on old maps like this.
Love it! Personally think the commie blocks need a tad more snow at the base, to meld them with the ground a bit better though
You mean even more than on screen 3/13?
