The abandoned frozen waters of Franz Josef Land welcome our captains! Meet the first location with destructible fortifications!
"Franz Josef Land"
The new location for naval battles called “Franz Josef Land” will become one of the northernmost locations in War Thunder. Here, players will witness the harsh lifeless expanses of plateau-like islands covered with basalt and permafrost glaciers. But even these uninhabitable islands have been mastered by man. Here you can find two polar stations, military bases, as well as a few abandoned villages.
In the Dominance mode for this location, we plan to add fortifications with a different set of weapons that provide fire support for bases. Destruction of such fortifications will grant players additional points. We want to make naval battles more varied and dynamic, and we're interested in your opinion of the new gameplay option. We look forward to your feedback as soon as the update is released!

This will literally be the coolest update of all time. I really love the fortifications. Hope to see more static weapons and gamemodes in the future.
This sounds fun. More specific Naval modes are always nice to see! Just how accurate will these coastal guns be? Is it like the AI anti-ship gunners, or is it like the computer guided AI anti-aircraft gunners?
This would be intresting as a naval assult map where you are assulting a beach and its fortifications (AI doing the landing) Sort of like Omaha Beach. Otherwise this is more arcade sillyness.
These fortifications will be abused like how airfield sam in top air rb are abused. I'm sure they will have god tier aim as well and smoke will be ineffective against them like how chaff is ineffective against ai sam in air rb.
Super cool, let's bring it!
How about we not only do such changes to make battles more dynamic for naval but ground and air too, it would be enough just to add like a team deathmatch mode for ground or smt like that
LOVE IT! please don't be timid and have like 1 gun on the point (see sleepy emoji below) ... go BIG... go with like 5 per cap(I see those pew-pew guns) with different zones of responsibility. will it be a generic coastal gun or will the player that caps the point gets like German or Italian coastal guns with difference to notice
I'm super excited for this change!!! Naval gameplay could use a plethora of new additions. This is a great step! I'd love to see quick-rearm stations like docks that are further away from the battlefield than spawns. It would make reloading ships and boats with rapid fire guns and small magazines much more enjoyable
I'd hoestly like to see night battles in naval. It'd make the PT boats a great deal more dangerous, and having the use of Starshells, aircraft dropped flares, and searchlights on ships would add a great deal of depth to the gameplay I think. Having surface search radar (that is accurately implemented by having to figure out what is ground clutter and what isnt) would be a very interesting addition.
