A new British top-tier main battle tank comes equipped with a new power plant and improved mobility.
Challenger 2E, main battle tank, Britain, rank VII
Features:
- Improved dynamics and top speed
- Thermal vision for the commander, gunner and driver views
- Good protection at the turret front
The Challenger 2E is a further development of the British main battle tank series that was created in the late 1990s for export to other countries, primarily Greece. The tank was equipped with new sights for the commander and gunner, as well as improved driving performance. As a power plant for this version, a new power pack was used, which included the MTU MT883 diesel engine and automatic transmission. In 2005, due to the lack of orders for this modification of the Challenger 2, BAE Systems decided to scuttle the project.
The Challenger 2E is a new member of Britain's top tier tank family that will become available for research with the release of the next War Thunder update. The tank solves the main problem of its series - unsatisfactory mobility. The new power pack not only increases the maximum speed to 72 km/h, but also significantly increases the tank's throttle response, improving the turn dynamics and making it much easier to climb hills. That’s the way!
The pros of the series fit the new dynamics perfectly: a good stabilised gun with punchy L27A1 armour-piercing fin-stabilised rounds and a comfortable fire control system with a laser rangefinder and thermal imagers for the commander, gunner and driver. Composite armour allows survival from multiple hits and is especially good at the turret’s front.
The new British top rank tank, new locations, vehicles, new game features and improvements are waiting for you in the first major update of 2023 in War Thunder. Coming soon!

Comments will be premoderatedPatiently waiting for the... "this doesn't look like the French Navy" comments :) However, this is a nice addition for the UK ground lineup
I see what you did here.
This doesn't look like a Super Etendard :)
Let's go! A british tank that can actually traverse the battlefield with reasonable speed
*Whilst making an excellent cuppa too.
get the tea lads
water is already boiling :)
No one asked for this no one wanted this. What we wanted was a better IFV the warrior is not cutting it and the vmf has no thermals. this dont even get a tes package. What a complete joke
As you can see from the comments, there are players who welcome this machine with open arms. Just because You don't like the addition doesn't mean you can speak for everyone.
Have to stay positive, once they have added all version of the challenger (for example), they can't add anymore :P.
Finally the british MBT can run faster :P
maybe it needs to be the French who need a speed boost for that reason
damn, that"s a needed adition but i kinda expected something else for GB, something like a light tank/IFV
We can start spamming the British IFV and light tank comments once the people who are spamming the French navy comments get what they want.
When will Germany get a Leopard that's at least somewhat on par with the Strv122B PLSS?
When germany will have at least One working Leopard2 irl
if you cannot do well in a leopard 2a5 or 6 I don't think another upgraded leopard is going to fix anything for you.
At least folder it with the normal chally 2 so there will be less grind
no..... the grind is eternal, we must feed the snail.
i hope this will go below the Vickers Mark 7 being an export model and all
That's a really good point, CR2E was never in UK service.
Finally, my baby!
