Special: Merkava

The first prototypes of Israeli tanks were ready in 1974… and in 1979, less than ten years after the start of development, the new armoured vehicle was adopted by the IDF. It was given the name “Merkava”, with a stress on the last syllable, meaning “chariot” in Hebrew.
