Whirlwind P.9 - an experimental pre-production vehicle, the direct ancestor of the British Whirlwind Mk.I heavy fighter. Development of the aircraft began in 1937 and the aircraft in this series had plenty of time to fight against German aircraft and ships during the Battle of Britain. This twin-engine aircraft has a battery of four 20 mm Hispano cannons in its nose, which makes it an effective vehicle for destroying not only air, but also ground and smaller naval targets.
For its size, the Whirlwind maneuvers quite well and is perfect to control. In our game, the Whirlwind P.9 will be a rank III premium heavy fighter in the British lineup.
The H-34 Choctaw is already well known to War Thunder players as an entry level helicopter in the French lineup. During our event, the Choctaw returns to its “historical homeland”, and so accordingly, we present the US version of the helicopter sporting different weaponry compared to its French counterpart. The vehicle first entered service with the US Navy in 1955 and later to the US army (in 1956).
The US version differs from the licensed French version as a result of its weaponry composition - available armament presets include a Bullpup missile paired with a 20 mm gun, a machine gun paired with ‘Mighty Mouse’ Folding-Fin Aerial Rockets, and a collection of machine gun pods, a 20 mm gun, and HVAR rockets.
Vehicles covered will be available in Operation “Shipyard” which we will discuss later.

Wow more copy paste... pathetic
Wow, more complaining about an optional event. Sad.
So far this is looking to be a very disappointing event Gaijin. The ONLY unique and interesting vehicle presented thus far has been the VT1-2, the MBK-161 is just a weaker pr.186 (MK 85) which no doubt will cost SIGNIFICANTLY less to get. You've already done the P.9, and the H-34 is barely going to be any more competitive even with the Bullpup. The next vehicles are going to have to be really something special for it to at all be worth it guys. So far it's just market trash.
I agree 100% with this. Even then, the VT1-2 will likely not be premium too. Just another reason to not do this event at all (also considering we know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the event outside of its start date and that it is a crafting event).
I wish you didn't make an iconic US helicopter an event vehicle, when the same thing is right there in the French tree as a reserve. And yeah, reusing the Whirlwind isn't that cool either.
hmm.. might be a nice chance to grab the whirlwind as i didn't bother last time... very cool.
You're not missing much. It's barely different from the tech tree version except it has more ammo in it.
Happy to see the Whirlwind as i was not around the last time. But is there not an AVRO Shackleton knocking about in the files somewhere? That would have been awesome!
ONE bullpup ? greaaaat ! P.9 ? Not a good plane…. Would i try to earn them ? HEEELLLL NO !
To everybody who is not collector and is thinking about investing time or money into this Whirlwind - since I own this vehicle from 2018 Chronicle event I can honestly say that same as the Whirlwind that is in the normal British tree, it is terrible and pretty useless aircraft. Enemy planes this thing meets will own you like you would not believe it. Definitely not worth, it will stand in your hangar probably forever, definitely makes sense ONLY for collectors.
As someone who has flown the normal whirlwind I can say it is very good. the only thing holding you back is the ammo count which forces you to depend on allies too much. (that being in air realistic)
Ich_Soll_Torte, Press X to doubt. The Whirlwind gets stomped by nearly everything it flies against, hell the BR reduction shows that. The P.9s additional ammo won't do much if you're already dead.
Cool Copy-Paste stuff. I already have the Whirlwind P.9, its really sad, I was kinda hyped for a new plane from this event.
I hope that EAC show's up before another event comes...
I hope the whirlwind comes with flight model changes to the british heavy fighters. They NEED it.
It didn't the last time... Besides, why would they even dare give Britain any actual love?
*FireWarrior2013, Currently the reason they don't dare give the British any love, is that anything that gets within 1 km gets their sh*t pushed in by an SRAAM.
