Ammunition Belts 101
Attention! Outdated news format. Content may not display correctly.
Every time we go into an air battle, we choose to use certain ammunition belts — and it’s not always clear whether we make a right choice. Let’s settle this issue once and for all and answer three simple questions: what types of ammunition belts exist, what do they do… and which ones should we choose!

I'm trying reeeeeeeeaaaaally hard not to go off on a tirade about how many of the Japanese machine guns and cannons in War Thunder have had historically inaccurate ammunition for a very long time...
They don't care. Japanese 7.7mm and Japanese 12.7mm have had incorrect ammunition for at least over 4 years now.
How about these: https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/433030-171218-183079-japanese-ho-103-ammo-italian-breda-safat-ammo-copy-issue/ I mean, there are a lot of underperforming ammunition types in War Thunder. Then there are the laughably over-performing .50 cals.
Japanese 7.7 and Japanese 12.7 have been wrong for years and the report on the forums has been ignored for years. They simply do not care.
You are just plain wrong...laughably OP? ....NOPE!
Japanese planes are still loaded with "practice shells" and the machine guns are still missing their HE. How about instead of making a video you actually fix the incorrect belts? It has already been reported and ignored for years.
Most machineguns did not have HE. To have a proper HE shell you needed to cram inside impact fuse and so on. Most machinegun rounds were FI rounds (like russian 23mm cannon) that lack fuse and a lot of filler, making them weaker than standard HE, and historically they go off easier. They could even detonate when subjected to too high pressure. Not to mention that video skimmed over mg151 belt having APHE instead of HE, as well as forgetting to mention that AP will do jack shit to wings.
Idek, *APHE instead of AP So in fact as long as you do not aim for armoured cocpit of a bomber - Pick HE to wreck its wings, it won't go far with only one side damaged and without engines (except for AB), going through the main body of a bomber is usually waste of time (unless you headon).
Fix your ShVAKs
They should fix the others too...
No reason to talk ammo when half of your plane guns have nonsense or straight out RNG damage that sparks one time and them rips whole wing second time. Last time you shadow patched (as always) German 20mm because for once, it behaved realistically and ripped planes apart (asi it should. Plus there are certain guns where it does not even matter at all what ammo belt you take because all are equaly ok/bad.
Still ignoring the fact that you completely made up Japanese ammunition belts?
Compares German Belts On A Japanese Plane.
Well, the plane they show has 2x MG 151 on it.
now the British 20mms are a laughing matter i cant tell you the amount of times iv gotten a sparks with 4 20mm cannons and lost the kill just to be 1 shoted by German 20mm or 30mm they need to fix all the guns in game they just love to buff what they like and its just total bs
Are you talking about Spark-ispanos
Ironic how most of those kills showed the tail coming off -)
Ammo guide doesnt seem to help at all... the ap belt suggested for ground targets, doesnt seem to pen any ground targets short of "light", "Atillery" and "AA"... Spoiler: ALL belts works for those targets, especially HIGH explosive ones wich seems to one shot them, with 3-5mm of pen.... Can this be corrected?.. i mean in heli battles, you have to shoot from the side of medium-heavy tanks to damage them with some weapons.. instead of top down into engine.. this is really confuseing
