During the last Operation S.U.M.M.E.R. event, we decided to experiment with new mission requirements which appealed to some, however there were players that wanted to see the summer marathon in the usual format. We will take all your feedback into account when preparing similar specials in the future, but we also want to ensure that this Summer leaves only good memories for all our players so we decided to launch another special with the good old terms! So here goes “Good Old S.U.M.M.E.R.”! Everything familiar and simple: complete the tasks or purchase the “Marks of distinction” without additional conditions and get prizes!
This time the grand reward of the event will be the American FJ-4B VMF 232 jet fighter with a new type of weaponry for War Thunder - guided air to ground missiles. As well as this, you can expect many other prizes: The British Martlet Mk IV, unique camouflages and decals!
Tankers will not be forgotten either, but another 20 days of marathon might be way too much, that’s why you will need to complete just 2 days of tasks from 22 to get a small, but unique prize - the Sd.Kfz. 234/3 armoured vehicle.
9 prizes for pilots, including the main prize - FJ-4B VMF 232 (rank V, USA) with guided air to ground missiles (AGM-12).
Unique Sd.Kfz. 234/3 (rank I, Germany) for just 2 “Marks of distinction for tankers” of 10.
You can purchase “Marks of distinction for pilots” and “Marks of distinction for tankers” for Golden Eagles and get prizes by not completing the tasks.
Simple event without assembly, preliminary stages and complex tasks.
From 17th of August 11:00 GMT till 07:30 GMT on the 6th of September - complete the tasks and immediately get the rewards!
Rewards for pilots:
- 2 marks of distinction — a random roundel decal from a range of Air Forces.
- 4 marks of distinction — a random roundel decal from a range of Air Forces.
- 5 marks of distinction — a Coupon for the Martlet Mk IV (rank II, Britain, premium).
- 6 marks of distinction — Coupon for a special camouflage for the Martlet Mk IV plus a random roundel decal from a range of Air Forces.
- 8 marks of distinction — a random roundel decal from a range of Air Forces.
- 9 marks of distinction — Coupon for FJ-4B VMF 232 (rank V, USA, non premium gift aircraft) fighter with guided air to ground missiles.
- 10 marks of distinction — Coupon for a special camouflage for the FJ-4B VMF 232 and coupon for a random roundel decal from a range of Air Forces.
Rewards for tankers:
- 2 marks of distinction — Coupon for a random decal (Emblem of the armoured troops)
- 2 marks of distinction — Sd.Kfz. 234/3 coupon
- 3 marks of distinction — Coupon for special camouflage for the Sd.Kfz. 234/3
Martlet MK IV - Sea Swallow
In the summer of 1942, all production facilities of the American Grumman factory were preparing for the release of the latest F6F-3 deck fighters, but the Navy still needed the F4F-4 Wildcats for their ability to take off from a shorter deck. Production of the already tested in action F4F-4 was moved to another factory where the engineers made minor changes to the aircraft design and assigned a new designation - FM-1. Part of the aircraft in this series went via lend lease to Great Britain where the aircraft received its own name; the “Martlet” (a type of “swallow”). The Martlet Mk IV will be the first prize for participants of the summer marathon in War Thunder for pilots.
FJ-4B VMF 232 with guided AGM-12 Bullpup missiles
Our pilots are well aware and love perhaps the best in game deck attack aircraft, the FJ-4B. For the most persistent and purposeful participants of the War Thunder summer marathon for pilots we have prepared a special version equipped with guided AGM-12 missiles. These air-to-surface missiles have the ability to adjust the course of their flight which gives pilots the possibility of truly sniping shots at ground targets, tanks and ships. The FJ-4B VMF 232 carries five such missiles under the wings, as well as guidance equipment.
Sd.Kfz. 234/3 - with the short 75 mm cannon
A new version of the super-popular German heavy armoured vehicle - the Sd.Kfz. 234 - only available to Summer marathon participants! In the third modification of this vehicle with short 75 mm cannon that is installed in an open turret. It is the same cannon as mounted on the StuG and some versions of the German Pz IV. The fast armoured vehicle with an excellent for its BR weapon - a great choice for arcade and combined ground vehicle battles at lower ranks!

The purchase thing doesn't appear for me? ;-;
same, i cant find out where i can actually buy the damn tasks
I have one problem, i have gotten 22 kills in RB, even though im supposed to only need 18. It's not letting me complete the challenge if I don't get 35 kills. Any reason for this?
because the event hasnt started
Yeah gaijin dungoofed, the event has "started" but you do any of the marks of distinction
i would like to say that everything looks good except the fj camo. Im pretty sure that the yellow in the camo should be far more orange.
Thank you :)
Time to waste my time agin like in the IS-7 :^) im tired.....
what does 11/4/2 enemies in one battle mean?
11 in AB or 4 in RB or 2 in SB
acejeppe, ah, so basically an impossibility in AB
Any way to see your progress on each individual task?
WHEN DOES THE EVENT START?
Has already started
acejeppe, then why cant i buy the tasks!
Do i have to kill 70 in rb and 105 on simulator O.o
no
The x2 and x3 is in regards the how many your one kill counts as. 1 kill in AB is 1, in RB it's 2 and in Sim it's 3. Cheers
I love this event. But what have you done with the MG-Sounds====?`??????????????? It was perfect since the great Patch and now the MGs sounds like sewing machines??????? Please fix that for my ears, thanks.
Not all MGs but especially the 50 cals sounds like sewing machines. Listen to videos on youtube.de for example you have more bass and deeper sounds. Thank you
