One of the features of the new version of the Dagor Engine 5.0 graphics engine is a new algorithm for the detalization of landscape, with so-called displacement mapping used with tessellation. This is an advanced method for adding geometric detalization (available on DirectX 10 and above), which changes the actual surface of the object, adding geometric details, in contrast to the visual illusion of volume created by the parallax mapping previously used by the Dagor Engine.
Since the geometry of terrain actually changes, this does not only add details to the surface, but also changes the silhouette - this also means that shadows can be cast by such details.
The new algorithm for relief texturing available with full transition to DirectX 11 noticeably improves and adds detail to the image. Check it!
Mud and puddles
There will be new effects for mud puddles in the game. Any puddles will appear depending on the terrain and weather type. Sometimes the water will also appear in the track ruts. Puddle water has its own reflections for the surrounding objects and also reacts to nearby shots and passing heavy vehicles.
The mud will also be different depending on the weather - from dry and dusty to slushy.
Check how much variety new mud and puddles bring to familiar scenes!

this shouldnt be the case but this just made a mess in my pants :s
I LOVE GRAPHICS UPDATES!!!! your artists are amazing and these updates really put a lot of immersion into the game.
Looks great! Though the last picture is kinda over-doing it
This is all fine but all it does is give more players excuses to turn down their graphics setting. If Gaijin is going to allow players to turn down the setting because they have slower machines than why put in all the nice graphics? If you guys really want to impact the game t han make it so you have to have normal or above graphics settings for Realistic Mode? Also on stats it should show what the players graphics setting are at for their given score.
I have a question WAr Thunder about the new puddles. Can you add an option to disable puddles while flying? So I can have them on as i'm playing tank and off while I am flying? Kinda like how "Disable grass while looking through sights" on tanks? Reason I mention it is because you need all the fps while u fly in simulator scenarios and things like puddles lowering fps wouldn't be grand for me :P
This could really work well with rain you know all the streets are wet and everything else.
Does that mean destructible terrain is coming? Like, for instance, if we drop an artillery barrage on a bridge, does that mean we'll soon be able to cause that bridge to collapse?
i left the game for a bit due to an unpleasant experience, even deleted an original beta account due to it. but, due to the enhancements to the game, this is why i returned, great job, keep up the steady improvements.
GIVE ME A HIGH FIVE!! no ok ._.
This is gorgeous, I can't wait to see how it looks during matches!
