Research and purchase requirements reduced for rank 3-5 ground vehicles
As we promised previously, we are reducing the RP requirements as well as the prices in SL for vehicles, modifications, repairs and ammo in ground vehicles of ranks 3-5!
As we introduced rank 6 armoured vehicles, we had to rework research progress for the earlier ranks. Initially War Thunder was originally planned to have only 5 ranks, so research progress and game economy was designed in such a way that players would not reach top tier machines too quickly, so that they would understand all the mechanics of battle and unlock rank 5 as an experienced commander. But additionally, the progress shouldn’t take too long either - otherwise the game would be boring.
After the introduction of rank 6 we had to rework the existing system. Firstly we made progress from rank 5 to 6 smoother in terms of RP and SL requirements than from rank 4 to 5. As for the earlier ranks - it took a lot of work to make the whole progress balanced and we are now happy to announce that the changes will be implemented in one of the nearest updates.
These changes actually mean that:
- RP requirements for vehicle and modification research will be reduced
- SL requirements for vehicle and modification purchase will be reduced
- Repair costs will be reduced
- Ammunition cost will be reduced
- Crew training will be reduced
- Expert and ace crew qualification will be reduced
Besides this we are bringing back the requirement to own the Sturer Emil in order to purchase the Jpz 4-5 and also the requirement to own the Jpz 4-5 to purchase RakJPz 2. These requirements were temporarily removed when the Jpz 4-5 was moved to the lightly armoured TDs branch.
The list of rank changes from 5 to 6 are available here
Research points requirements and prices changes
Preliminary research and purchase changes for ground vehicles rank 3-5
When the economy update is released the mentioned changes will affect the majority of rank 3-5 ground vehicles in all nations.
All of the above mentioned changes will come into effect in one of the following updates but the exact date may still change, follow the news!
The list of BR changes for aircraft are available here
Have fun and see you on the battlefield!

Hi guys please continue discussion here https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/389317-development-preliminary-research-and-purchase-changes-for-ground-vehicles-rank-3-5/
Awesome. Any ETA on when this will go live?
Nope.
Soon
you guys do realize it's no nut november, sure making it hard to follow through with it :)
Already own all the vehicles. Still happy for the newcomers, hopefully, we will have more players in tier 5 now.
What will happen to the RP I have put into the tank I am researching right now? Will the RP just be thrown away and I don't care if the RP is thrown away because the tank is being reduced below the level that I have researched so far.
If you already gathered enough RP, vehicle will be unlocked and ready to buy.
Stona_WT, Awesome :D
This is so Awesome! Finally i can grind rank 4 and 5 with some speed
This is great guys, I'm about to talisman the T64 I'm about to unlock so this is really gonna help pad out my endgame Russians. Considering I only need three more vehicles for tier 5 Japan this is also good. A game like this takes time to refine and we all know there's been ups n' downs. You're still the top easily accessible tank game and there's reason for that. Otherwise you wouldn't still have so many players. Thanks for this, looking forward to seeing the changes implemented.
Cheers!
I'm thrilled to hear that RP is being reduced in the higher ranks, It would be nice to finally get out of the US 6.7 BR and finally start getting some tanks that can reliably destroy the IS-6. I personally don't see a need for compensation, but Stona_WTs TV analogy is wrong, retailers in the US (including Walmart) regularly give compensation for goods that have went on sale after purchase. Here's a list: https://lifehacker.com/all-the-stores-that-will-give-you-a-refund-if-a-price-d-1661273299
You still do not get the analogy.
Stona_WT, I understood the analogy when you said a few weeks/months. But then I see that as the discussion progressed you changed it to 10 years. So yes you are right my comparison doesn't apply to your second analogy. Makes me wonder why you changed it?
Wait, why is the E-100 listed as having RP? I thought that was a gift/event vehicle.
It has no RP.
pokenaut7, It doesn't any more. But it did when I commented, lol.
I researched 185k RP for the M48, what will happen to the ~25k RP after the changes take place? Will it just disappear? Can I use it for the research of another vehicle?
Nothing will happened to them. You used them to unlock M48
Stona_WT, That's not answering the question, the question itself asks what will happen to the excess RP, so please read carefully and actually answer it: - will RP go into the following vehicle providing we've gone past the limit for the current one (say there's a decrease of 10k but we've got more as of now)? - will the excess RP, as a result of the change and unlocking this new vehicle be automatically assigned to the following vehicle if it's available, or, something else of our own choice?
This has been fairly awesome news to read. Looking forward to unlocking variants I otherwise overlooked before! But will this change effect module research or is it strictly vehicle-only?
