For example pre 1942 Russian aircraft were outclassed by German fighters and were shot down by the 1000's until later that year when Russia started to produce competitive combat aircraft leading to the Lag and La fighters which were good, An I-15 WR for example in this game is no match for a P51 Mustang armed with 4 cannons and vastly faster.
