Dear Players!
With War Thunder Update 1.53 'Firestorm' we've included a great variety of changes and improvements to the game's visuals, noticeable especially through the introduction of Physically Based Rendering (PBR) that came with the new Dagor Engine 4.0. Now, we are capable of accurately calculating the effect of light reflecting from different kind of surfaces - and that's definitely a big plus for our camouflage creators interested in making realistic skins for any vehicles! Let's take a look at what has been going on over at War Thunder Live recently!
Camouflages
Before we get into the details about the camouflages themselves: If you are not familiar with applying skins to your vehicles in War Thunder, there's a simple tutorial on our Wiki explaining every step from searching skins on WT.Live over downloading them to the selection in-game!
In the camouflage department, there are quite a few interesting new creations waiting for you to be downloaded! Skinner TheOmega89, renown for his amazing skins for U.S. aircraft, uploaded his iteration of the Martin B-57B Canberra of the U.S. 8th Bomb Squadron from the Vietnam era. Also impressive is skinner __StrafeMike__'s Hurricane skin-pack, featuring two historical recreations of aircraft flown by the Polish 303 Squadron. All skins are PBR-ready and are just waiting to be downloaded!
For the other side of the conflict, there were some very nice skins recently made as well. Take a look at PaganiZonda's historical camouflages for German aircraft, for example. This particular example is a nice looking Bf 109 G-6 of the JG 5 'Eismeer' squadron, fighting in Norway in 1945. For fans of Japanese machines, skinner Senshi_Isamu has prepared a beautiful rendition of the J7W1 in semi-historical livery of the Genzan Kōkū-tai, again from 1945. All of these skins are PBR.ready as well - just take a look at the metal surfaces. Impressive!
If you're looking for some new paint on your tank, we've found some cool looking tank skins as well. Thanks to skinner CmdNomad you can dress up your PT-76 light tank in style of the Soviet Naval Infantry, as they were looking in around 1980. For early adopters of the British ground forces, the known Tiger_VI has something up his sleeve, as well: The A43 Black Prince 'Betty' of the 14th Canadian Ar. Regiment. Both PBR-ready and Beautiful!
Wallpapers
If you're looking for some fancy new War Thunder wallpapers for your desktop made by the Community, Live has something cool to offer there, as well. Here are two examples, with the first being from user Killer1986rr, which is appropriately called 'Freedom' as it depicts an American P-51 in ground strike duty. The second example is from user armoureddanger, who has plenty of wallpapers to offer. In this recent one, he depicts a German Bf 109 in an epic head-on pose! There is a lot more to find!
Missions
And here's something a bit more exotic! Many of you might not even know that it's already possible to create your own missions in War Thunder, to play them and share them with your friends. Given, it requires a bit of effort to get into - but after you've mastered the CDK, you'll be able to create cool scenarios like the two we want to introduce to you briefly here. The first one is quite extraordinary and unusual, made by Thunder421. In this epic encounter, two teams of 100 powerful KV-2 tanks each battle it out on the open fields. Bring some processing power! The second one is almost like a Test Drive on steroids! Created by _BoltGunM43_, this virtual training ground offers you everything you need to test your vehicles in almost every aspect. A lot of fun, and a lot of effort! Good job!
We hope you've enjoyed our selection of featured items and don't forget to leave a like and comment for the creators if you liked their content. There's a lot more to see on War Thunder Live, so if you are into Community created stuff, it's made for you! See you on the battlefield!
