Tactical air-to-surface missiles
Several models of tactical air-to-surface missiles will be added to the weapon presets of both new aircraft and aviation already researched by players. Two of them are really special, let’s take a closer look.
The Soviet Kh-29L is currently the largest guided missile in the game with a mass of 317kg for an armour-piercing high-explosive warhead. The missile was first tested in combat during the war in Afghanistan and has since been used and modernized for the needs of Russian aviation, and also for export. The Kh-29L has a laser homing system, so the launch of a high-precision weapon can be detected by a potential victim - if there are detection devices, of course.
The American AGM-65A Maverick missile, which will also appear in the “Ixwa Strike” update does not have this drawback. The electro-optical tv guidance system, yet unique to the game, will not permit the detection of the missile's targeting, the missile works in “fire and forget” mode. The disadvantage of an electro-optical television seeker is that the missile cannot be guided in poor visibility conditions: at night, in fog, heavy rain, or through clouds.
New hit effects
In our previous updates, we brought you new hit effects for aircraft and large-calibre naval guns. Here comes a global update for hit effects for all weapons in the game - aircraft, armoured, naval - for all calibres from 7 to 205 mm! Changes in the nature of the hit effect are especially visible when shooting at solid surfaces: concrete, metal, asphalt, soil, etc. In general, we have created a unified hit effect system for different types of projectiles of different calibres on different types of surfaces - more than 120 new effects in total! New hit effects will be added to the game in the near future.
Shell impact animations
In the vehicle card, when you hover the cursor over the different types of shells available, you will see a visual animation of the types of impact of the shell on the target. For example, armor-piercing effect causing shrapnel inside a tank or ship, the explosion of a proximity fuse shell to hit an air target, the action of an ATGM shaped-charge jet, and so on. These animated clues will help players to navigate in a huge variety of ammunition for all types of vehicles - land, air, and sea.
Chaff (radar confusing reflectors)
In the “Ixwa Strike” update, another means of radar countermeasures will be introduced in the game - dipole radar confusing reflectors, or ‘chaff’. Dipoles are a simple, cheap, and therefore a very common means of electronic countermeasures. These are small objects (strips of foil, metallized paper or fibreglass) that shoot out like a cloud behind the aircraft as a decoy target to defend against radar-guided missiles. Like the flares, dipole reflectors can “trick” an enemy missile, guiding it off course, initiate the proximity fuse of a chasing missile, or act as a decoy target for enemy radar.

Hey Stona, what about the high ping and packet loss issues everyone has been having?
Yeah!!
sooo awesome, cant wait for the latest update!
Positively glorious
And the only nations that gets the chaff are the ones that have radar guided missles, while other nation vehicles are still lacking flares and radar guided missiles
OH EM EFFING GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
where does it say that US is the only update? just because you see an US plane .. also french have the MATRA missiles
How about some updated SimEC maps to support these modern aircraft? The maps should have been made WELL BEFORE these aircraft! Try thinking about quality instead of new trinkets for these little kids for once.
Maybe sometimes it would be nice to have bigger maps, but most times I play top tier I want this fast paced action loaded combat. I'm not sure tho if the map size is the problem anyways. For how it looks to me a lot of maps are way bigger then the part of the map where all the action takes place.
where is my Italian or German IFV at?
you have BMP and begleitpanzer and SDKFZ 251
LightningMcLeon, italy
When is the update? within a few days?
Maybe =)
Stona_WT, If so im so excited, im pretty sure im buying a premium that comes with the update :D
are you guys aware that the apc / apcbc shells animation is wrong? the shells should go the other way
Do what now? Do you mean it should explode and then impact the amour? I mean that's not at all how shells work. Gaijin knows what they are doing and the impact animation looks 100% amazing. Plus they only show a Apcbc shell, not a apc.... I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what you mean ;-) Perhaps you could enlighten me? I would appreciate that. Sincerely, Super
I told them the same thing, including the physics involved. No wonder we get such strange modeling in-game.
Before the animation makes it into the game, can you please fix it? That's not how APC / APCBC shells work. They will normalize with the armor, not dig through the thickest part.
Nice changes now all I wish for is external fuel tanks and submarines. :)
Perfect request, sir. I salute you. Not even submarines, just semi-submersibles and midget subs. They were used from 1860s-1960s. They only need to dive to depth charge depth. I wrote a whole article on the Forum. Then Gaijin deleted my page...
