Т-62: the first mass-produced MBT

The Soviet T-62 tank is a vivid example of the extensive development approach in armored vehicle design. A blend of numerous compromises and innovations, it was, to the untrained eye, almost indistinguishable from its predecessor. Yet the T-62 carved out a significant niche within the Soviet Army and marked the first step into a new era for the country’s armored forces.

Evolution of Il-2

The Il-2 became the most produced aircraft in the history of aviation and played a major role in World War 2. And while its creators picked the right concept of a slow but well-armored strike aircraft, the design required numerous incremental upgrades. Many of them were urgent and had to be completed in the very first years and even months of production.
