Introducing a revolutionary update! The long awaited and highly requested addition of infantry to the battlefields of War Thunder is finally here!
We’re always striving to push the boundaries of our game — an online military combat simulator that brings to life legendary weaponry from various eras. That’s why War Thunder is about to grow not only in depth with the introduction of armored vehicles and aircraft from World War I, but also in scale, with infantry now joining the fight!
What does this mean?
Very soon, a large-scale closed beta test of infantry will begin. We’ll share more details about the tech trees, weaponry, gear, and gameplay features in future devblogs. But in THE NEXT 24 HOURS, you'll have your first chance to take part in test battles featuring infantry during a special event dedicated to World War I.
It’s time to see war from a completely new perspective. You’re already familiar with the devastating power of machines — on land, in the sky, and at sea. But everything is about to change when infantry, the true decisive force of the battlefield, finally enters the fray.
Get ready for all new battles like you’ve never seen before, and stay tuned for updates.
Forward, soldiers!

Comments will be premoderatedI can't tell if this is actually gonna be a thing in the future, or just some april fools event. It would be SICK if it was actually permanently added.
If this is real my dreams for the future of this game are becoming a reality
I agree so much!!! It's an amazing april fool event but if it wasn't I'd be so happy
This looks very nice. Please gaijin, let this be a real thing and not just a waste of your resources for the april fools event. Add AI infantry that can be deployed and commanded by apc/ifv!
Please Gaijin developers. I know you grew up on CoD and Battlefields like me, but please try to go the way of tactical games and not fast FPS. Support the old community, create a strong healthy community so that old players don't leave, add submarines, improve custom battles, make it possible to have fun diverse battles between Squadrons, work on damage models etc. for next 10 years of War Thunder.
Uhh... Isn't this just Enlisted?
its enlisted but ww1
looks way better than enlisted
Finally a use for napalm
Your an evil one
Is this legit? Or Aprils fool? Because if its legit, its really great.
April fool
Disinformation
you dont say :D
Interesting that the trailer shows high fidelity Modern Inf combat, but the event is... WW1. Wonder what is in the works?
I'm hoping it's not a typo, I'd really rather have WW1 than WW3 XD
I mean, maybe we are testing in WW1 because there isn't nearly as many things to load than in modern combat (drones, guided missiles, night vision, heat vision, ATGMs....)
That's just Enlisted.
no its not you would know its not the same if you ever played enlisted enlisted is only ww2 and plus its just dif mechanics wise shut up before you ruin it for the whole player base
I hope this is an April's fools because I play warthunder for vehicle combat.. not call of dooody combat
it would be a gamemode pal
