The Aigle destroyer sporting deadly cannons and great torpedoes comes as the first French ship to be added to the game in a special early access pack!

Designed in the late 1920s as the successor to the Guépard class, the Aigle class destroyers featured only minor improvements over their predecessors, mainly reflected in the slightly more powerful machinery fitted to the ships. Aigile, as the lead ship of the class, was ordered for construction by the end of the 1920s and was launched in February 1931. After completion in 1932, Aigle entered service with the French Navy, subsequently going through a relatively uneventful service period until the outbreak of WWII in September 1939.
At the outbreak of hostilities, Aigle was tasked with escorting French capital ships into the Atlantic and also took up escort duties for convoys making their way from North African ports to Marseille. In June 1940, Aigle took part in the French naval raid on the port of Genoa where the ship fended off attacks from Italian torpedo boats. Following the Fall of France several days later however, Aigle fell under the command of the new navy of Vichy France.
After the Allied Invasion of North Africa in late 1942, Germany annexed the remaining Vichy-controlled territory of France, seeking also to capture much of the remaining French fleet based in Toulon. However, seeking to foil the German plans, the commanding French admiral ordered the scuttling of the French fleet in Toulon, among which was Aigle. The order was subsequently carried out in November 1942, rendering Aigle unserviceable. Despite this however, a refloat of the ship was attempted, but the hull was ultimately destroyed by a US bombing raid on Toulon in November 1943.

Until then you’ll be able to master your French crews in battles. Each early access ship has 3 respawns in Arcade and Realistic modes. So, let’s take a closer look at the Aigle, shall we?
Contrary to destroyers of most other nations, Aigle (French for “Eagle”) features a rather heavy primary arsenal. In fact, being armed with five 138 mm guns forming its main battery brings the Aigle almost on par with some of the earliest cruisers present in the game. However, while the guns will certainly have a good punch to them and offer favorable ballistics, their larger caliber will also result in a slower rate of fire.
On the other hand, captains won’t have to charge into battle relying solely on the ship’s main guns. Further augmenting the arsenal are four single and a pair of twin 37 mm and two twin 13.2 mm turrets. Apart from the direct fire weapons, the ship is also fitted with two triple 550 mm torpedo launchers, each torpedo contains 310 kg of TNT explosives. Overall, Aigle can certainly be considered as a well equipped destroyer, capable of becoming a serious threat even to larger vessel types if given the chance to do so.
Aigle is rather nimble and mobile, but lacks any noticeable protection. As for other destroyers in the game, movement means life for this ship, and a sudden stop or damage to the rudder usually ends in a quick return to the hangar. Move, maneuver and strike enemies with the powerful main battery and torpedoes - that's Aigle's tactics in naval battles.
The launch of the French Navy OBT is scheduled in one of the next major updates after the release of the “Sky Guardians” update.

Would probably buy if it were Rank III. But for something that can't do the majority of daily tasks or any challenges, it's not worth the asking price.

It's cool and all of that, but it's rank 2. It means the destroyer can't be used for daily tasks (except easy one) :man_shrugging:
It’s only rank 2, so the research effeciency is limited up to rank 4. And you can’t use this vessel to grind for event and battle pass task too. And from what I see in the dev server the gun reload is about 6 second, but that will drop down to about 8 second once the ready rack ammo is depleted. The turret traverse is horrendous, and there are no armor whatsoever, one hit into the magazine (just below the rear turrets will blow the ship. On the positive side the guns are quite punchy.
Terrific, great addition. I won't play it, or France, but hopefully this silences those that have blowing up every forum and chat with their French Navy dreams.
Ah, more destroyers, but no submarines. Well, keep us submariners in mind through the next couple of updates, if you please.
