Nov. 19-23 of 1942 –The beginning of a great offensive operation, codename “Uran” - this counterattack mission took place in Stalingrad, and victory in that battle became a turning point for the whole of WWII on the Eastern front. According to the plan of “Uran” operation, three offensive armies were to surround 6-th German army and destroy it.The Soviet army accomplished this mission, the enemy was surrounded and partly destroyed.
