The version of our game for Apple computers now supports Metal, which means that battles are going to look even better!β
We are pleased to announce that War Thunder for Apple computers will support Metal in the incoming update, a graphics API that will substantially boost the game's frame rate. Previously, the Mac version of our game client only worked with OpenGL, which restricted the speed at which battles could be displayed and could lower the frame rate in scenes involving a large number of shaders, for example when a player takes an artillery hit. With Metal, dynamic scenes in the Mac client will be displayed much faster, and in some cases, the frame rate will be doubled!
War Thunder will automatically switch to Metal on all Apple computers that support this technology.
To try the new Metal technology currently, you need to include the following line in the config.blk file in the video section: driver:t="metal".

Nice
This means nothing to me but game optimisation is always a step in the right direction.
How about AMD GPU optimization? Currently AMD graphics dont look even half as good as Nvidia
What?! AMD's are πΈπ’πΊ superior over any nVidia, thanks to the crap GFE and the usual idiocy ππ©π¦ ππ³π¦π¦π― ππ¦π’π΅π©π¦π³ π«π’π€π¬π¦π΅ πΈπ¦π’π³πͺπ―π¨ ππ°π£π£πͺπ΅β’ bringing in every once in a while. On image-quality AMD/ATi is far superior as most post-processing (FXAA, AA, AF) doesn't even work on nVidia or cause extreme texture-flickering. If you need help, just ask β it's that easy. :)
You are aware that graphic in War Thunder looks same on both GPUs?
People should stop trying to play games on MAC's on the first place to be honest xD.
What? No! Early adaptors, make our own hardware less expensive. xD
Upgrade the Linux renderer too, it current uses OpenGL 3.x which is obsolete. A complete Vulkan or OGL 4.4+ port would be much appreciated.
This is great news!
Gaijn, this is beutifull thank you for thinking about the smaller group of players!
Since you guys support Metal, do you guys have any plans to implement Vulkan support for Windows and Linux?
Could we at some point see support for Vulkan? Supporting Open APIs is a win for everyone. :)
thank you
