The Air war along the Western front began with intense clashes as Germany stormed acrossed Europe. From their first meeting in what was to be known as the Miracle at Dunkirk, to the coming Battle of Britain, to the Liberation of France and beyond. Spifires and BF109's clashed over the skies of Europe in duels recounted in newsreels and stories that still captivate the hearts and imaginations today.
Both very nimble fighters that served thier pilots well. Both sides with distinct advantages over the other, but so closely matched that testing of captured craft allowed for many variants during the war as it progressed. The Bf109 developed initially in secret was a serious contender for it's Allied counterpart. Carrying many variances of ordnance and other "Ruestzustand " field modifications to expand it's role.
The Spitfire on the other hand was more purpose built by variant.
However whatever role each found itself in, wherever and whenever these two Legends of the sky met, the battles were guaranteed to be a true test skill and bravery.
