Dear Pilots and Tankers!
On the 9th of May, the War Thunder Team met the Victory Day together with some of our players in Odintsovo, near Moscow in Russia. Those in attendance could try the latest model of the Oculus Rift, participate in draws for souvenirs and of course, just chat with the developers. The highlight of the event was the presentation of new vehicles. In Odintsovo, our guests heard first hand about the future plans of the development of the game.
Today, we will reveal the inside information to all and will show you two interesting new vehicles to be added with one of the incoming updates!
Douglas B-18 Bolo
The majority of countries did not have the vehicles that met the high requirements of the military command. The US, for instance ,did not have a good medium bomber - and it was civil aviation that solved the problem. Not unlike the Germans that created their He.111 based on a passenger aircraft, the Americans adapted the civil B-18 to military needs. The “Bolo” could carry an impressive bomb load.
IТ-1
Now let us introduce some completely new gameplay - the first but not last rocket tank which was armed with guided missile weaponry! The chassis of the T-62 carrying no guns, just 15 deadly guided missiles. An enemy behind a hill? No problem for an experienced gunner! IT-1 - one of the first rocket tanks armed with ATGMs in War Thunder.
Follow the news in our Devblog, where we will inform you about all the new vehicles of incoming updates!
We would also like to thank our partners - MSI, ZyXEL, SteelSeries and Nvidia - for their support.
The War Thunder Team

The "cold blow" of the competition (Armored Warfare) hits the neck of Gaijin and Wargaming... Better fix the old problems, watch the forums and the polls! The game is unique, It's got potential, it's stupid to be ruined by some unfair rules! Correct the BR problems, put some "taxes" to those "suicide bombers and attackers" in GF AB, develop that PvE system and you will prevail upon those "hitpoint games". New era vehicles need new era opponents and different classification IMO...
AW is currently dead on the NA servers so.........
This game is going to die... Best to start looking for a new main game to play, because I have no interest in using or going against hax-status weaponry that takes no skill or thought to win with. Just sit behind friendly lines in cover, point, and click to win. On top of all the cheesing rife in this community - like the aforementioned kamikaze children in the air, and the children who ram-block on the ground... this game is going downhill fast. The devs should listen to the community.
Remember people: this ATGM is WIRE-GUIDED. Just like armored warfare's low-tiered rocket vehicles, you CANNOT MOVE while FIRING THE ROCKET. Honestly the Bolo would be more effective against alot of tanks than this thing. It's better in a sense that you no longer have to spray and pray lots of rockets into face of enemy in order to get a effective hit, but sitting still leaves you completely open to being flanked and shot up by your enemy. This vehicle is best for area of denial IMO.
Depends if they make it gamey or not.
This one is radio guided. The TOW missile system uses wires.
I can't wait for the B-18! Honestly I like the B-18 much much more than the IT-1. Like and or reply if you agree!
At last an early US (land based) bomber. I hope the B-23 will in the game too once, or some long waited new Italian planes.
There are rumors of a Italian tech tree. You don't have it from me! :P
i have to say, im not really sure about the IT-1... its certainly an interesting tank (also it looks pretty good as all T-54-ish looking tanks do), but i have a lot of concernes for the balancing, it will either get a way to low BR, or it will fight tanks it cant even deal with (although i think you will give it a to low BR, wich is in my opinion way worse than having a to high BR as it then affects mutiple tanks, not only the IT-1)
You mean a T-62 base hull
It will be top-end TD, what can't it kill? xD
Love the additions of ATGM. Hope we get more and missiles for aircraft too.
IT-1, WOW, how is that ever going to be balanced? is this the first 9.0 tank?
It's already balanced. You can't move while guiding the rocket or it loses guidance. HEATFS being fired from an actual cannon is more efficient than this ATGM, considering penetration and velocity. Fun wise I would say this thing is more fun than a HEATFS shell. Penetration wise, this only has 250mm of pen at 60 degrees. I'm not sure if it's going to be 9.0 but it sure will be at least 8.0.
in reality it could very well drive while shooting.. slow though
Looking forward to the B-18. As for the IT-1...honestly I'm on the fence about it. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how Gaijin goes about implementing this and other related vehicles. It'll definitely be a game-changer, but shouldn't be broken if balanced properly.
Why is there more Russian tanks than anything else. I mean there is some bias, but most of the major server or patch updates have more russian vehicles or aircraft in them. You guys should be expanding other nations besides Russia. There isn't even any aircraft from France or any other nation that had a small part in the way. And when is there going to be ships added?
YES The IT-1 is going to be awesome ,I really cant see it being OP ,and it opens so much more doors for development on other nations rocket rech. Keep up the good work! Thanks
yes, im personally leaning towards liking this tank too, as i love all warsaw pact vehicles
What? "I really cant see it being OP." You realise this is a T54 tank with an ATGM (= better penetration angles and even if you can aim right you can hit the top of the tank). Saying it won't be extremely good is like putting your fingers in your ears and screaming "lalalalalalala I can't hear you."
