About this tank

• In the early 1980s, China developed a specialized export version of its Type 69 tank, which was supplied to the armies of Iraq, Pakistan, and Sudan. In total, more than 3,500 units of this improved variant were produced; it featured a more powerful gun, an upgraded fire-control system, smoke grenade launchers, slat armor around the turret, and numerous other enhancements. The result was a truly versatile tank capable of holding its own in both long-range engagements and intense urban combat.

• This upgraded version of the ZTZ96 tank features an improved transmission, resulting in noticeably better mobility. Its 125 mm gun has access to strong HE rounds, high penetration APFSDS, and tandem warhead ATGMs for dealing with vehicles equipped with ERA.
