Pavel Osipovich Sukhoi was born on July 22nd 1895. In the early 1910s, while a student in Gomel, he witnessed a flight by the famous aviator Sergei Utochkin; he loved it so much that he decided to dedicate his life to aircraft design. During the 1920s and 1930s, he worked under the supervision of Andrei Tupolev, and after developing the BB-1 bomber, he was given his own design bureau. The BB-1 — designated the Su-2 — saw extensive use during the early stages of the Second World War. The Su-7 was Sukhoi’s first production jet aircraft, while the Su-24 frontline bomber remains in service to this day.

About the Su-7BMK

• The Su-7BMK is an export modification of the Su-7B fighter-bomber, supplied to the air forces of Algeria, Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Egypt and Syria (the Egyptian version of the aircraft is the variant we have in the game). It inherited excellent speed characteristics from the Su-7B and at the same time received two more hardpoints. Its forward armament consists of two 30 mm cannons, and the range of outboard weapons includes rockets of various calibers, 250 and 500 kg high-explosive bombs, and incendiary tanks.
