Although Chinese squadrons had been fighting against Japan since the 1930s, the People’s Liberation Army Air Force was officially formed on November 11th 1949. Initially, it was equipped with Soviet aircraft, but from the 1960s onwards, China began developing their own vehicles. Today, the Chinese Air Force is one of the largest and best-equipped in the world.
