In 1937 the brand new A5M fighter was just entering service... but the top brass of the Japanese Navy was already in search for the aircraft that was going to come after the A5M. They wanted a fighter, equipped with cannons, capable of reaching the speed of 500 kph at 4,000 metres… and with all the maneuverability of the previous model. In order to meet those goals, Mitsubishi engineers went out of their way to make their new plane as light as possible, using a top-secret aluminium alloy to build it — and giving up on armor, any armor in fact. The first pre-production aircraft took to the skies on the 1st of April, 1939. That was the start of the story of the A6M... also known as “Zero”.

This is an awesome video, but Gaijin, when are you going to adjust the BR for these planes (along with a lot of other Japanese aircraft) to something logical? So many of them have irrationally high BR. One example: the A6M5 has a 4.7 BR in AB and a 4.3 BR in RB while the F6F-5 has a 3.0 BR in AB and a 3.7 BR in RB. This is ridiculous! Please, you need to do address these problems.
What a wonderful fighter the Zero is? I have to admit my favorite is the seaplane version, and when playing IJN I always select "fighter" when spawning in a plane, and it is often possible to capture a point and help th team win by being in a Zero seaplane!
ZERO WHY NOT ZERO TWO? lol
how do you (Gaijin) manage to make the Japanese planes look good, I've been going down them and they keep getting worse and worse, please make a video on how to fly them. Thank you
I think the zero was a fun aircraft to fly, however, it suffers from the M2 .50 cal flamethrowers, it constantly catches fire after just 1 hit, however, it has an absolutely devastating armament, the 20mms really work for breaking wings, fuselages, and control surfaces, however, I wish you guys would listen to the community, and actually *cough* update your zero models *cough* and add new ones, maybe even make the Japanese tech tree more diverse? I find the plane an absolute joy to fly.
Meanwhile A6M6 Otsu insane repair cost ....
