In such a gigantic and complex organism such as the military, medals demonstrate in one quick and clear designation of human merit and deed identifying individuals worthy of respect. In War Thunder medals serve the same purpose and indicate the impressive achievements of one person to other players.
Whilst there will be more medals available for all nations, their rarity, and hence their value will increase significantly.
In one of the larger upcoming updates the number of medals in our game will be increased from 65 to 186 in total across all nations. France has already received new medals in one of our previous updates and now it is time to add medals for other nations too. For those nations we will add new medals whilst older medals will receive updated conditions or may be removed where they don’t correspond to design.
Old medals
We have completely revised the design of older medals; the requirements for their receipt, their appearance and have ranked them in order of precedence.
If you already own the medal - it will remain with you. Some older and incompatible to the design medals have been removed but the bonuses for their receipt will stay with you.
Open the list of medal changes
Take advantage of the time remaining before the changes are completed if you were planning to own one of the existing medals.
New medals
These will be a truly valuable achievement and adornment in your profile in the eyes of other players. You will still be able to unlock the easier medals but the more significant achievements will require skill, concentration and time - the requirements to own them will be increased.
Updated medals will now be placed in order of precedence as is customary with the medal rules of all nations. The More valuable medals and orders will open a unique in-game title to the owner.
Hold your medals in great esteem and honour!

The War Thunder Team

Deleting already earned medals is just another form of disrespecting your old, veteran players, but whats new, huh? You are doing this kind of thing for years...
“If you already own the medal - it will remain with you.“ Can you read?

As someone who has played since beta, I could care less what they do with the medals. I got them years ago, noticed their only reward was free rp and have forgotten them ever since. Titles I will periodically look at the requirements for but never actually wanted a medal.
So we will be able to get more free exp, that almost no one use because is not worth it at all? What about deleting free exp? I already have 25cmillion free exp that I cant use because it would cost me 444.444 GE, that I cant afford
It's not really "free xp" then is it? lol
All answers (1)Pytor_, we call it suprize wallet xp
Completely agree. Any time i see the yellow lightbulb of a reward i completely ignore it. Would cost well over $1000 for me to actually use all of what i have. Its just stupid. I could buy literally every premium in the game for less than it would cost to use that stuff.
Alexsis8, Wait, there's a yellow lightbulb? I've only been playing four years or so... :-)
Sure hope the requirement changes for the French medals. Absolutely mental... Largest nation: 300kills. (i can do that in an afternoon!) Second smallest nation: Let's require the player to get 20.000 matches played.
Totally agree. It's REALLY unbalanced. When I saw the French Medals tasks for the first time I thought there was a technical error that they would fix in the next patch.
AxelEurope, According to the bug report they told me that this change was coming and the requirements for all medals would be changed to reflect what the French are set at.
They're pretty hilarious. Ive been playing since beta and I don't even have some of those done across all nations and game types much less for a single nation in one game mode.
OP summer news when? :P
OP suffer you mean?
You know when, Soon™
Will there be significant SL rewards for completing them?
There is no (and there was no) SL reward for medals.
All answers (4)Stona_WT, So all that really has been done was add more art to a section of the game that people rarely look at. Would be nice to get rewards for these metals, like a talisman or backups or a good chunk of SL.
pointless changes... in the pointless feature, unless you can get 100k SL, booster, or something useful when you earning these medals. in the past 4 years maybe 5 or 6 times i look at these medals when i checked my stats.
I personally look forward to having these medals mean something beyond "I played more than 5 hours". especially from what this dev blog leads us to believe that they'll be displayed somewhere. I hope I get to show them off on my steam profile like the WT achievements.
Lunatic242, Have you looked at what France's current medals are? They're absolutely insane. I've been playing for 5 years and there's quite a few of those medals I wouldn't have even if all nation's progress counted for them. If the new medals are along the lines of the old (and they don't count past progress which is very common for them) then i wouldn't expect even the hardcore single nation players to have them for several years. Even then nobody will ever notice. A title like God Of War is better
Don't talk about medals while we are waiting for the operation S.U.M.M.E.R. announcement!
You mean operation S.U.F.F.E.R. ?
All answers (2)jonasx10j, At this point operation N.E.V.E.R
Sitting inside playing frustrating events when it's 40/50c inside NO THANKS!
