The Karo-Tei Type 2 is a sub-chaser boat used by the Japanese in the later stages of WW2 to combat submarine threats in the waters of Okinawa and the Philippines. In update 1.89 “Imperial Navy”, the Karo-Tei Type 2 will be one of the first vessels unlocked by future IJN captains in War Thunder!
Briefly: A late-war Japanese sub-chaser boat, introduced as one of the first vessels for future Japanese captains in the game.
The Karo-Tei Type 2 sub-chaser was developed in the later stages of WW2 and commissioned into service in 1944. The vessel’s primary task was to protect the Japanese naval bases at Okinawa and the Philippines from light allied assaults and submarines in particular. The vessel only saw limited use due to the ever worsening war situation for Japan at the time.

The vessel doesn’t necessarily excel in any aspect, but instead, offers a good balance between firepower, survivability and protection, making it a suitable vehicle for getting acquainted with early Japanese naval designs.
As such, aspiring captains of this vessel can expect to command a sub-chaser boat, armed with a single 37mm Type 94 as well as a 20mm Type 98 cannon, which form its primary armament. Additionally, 10 depth charges may be mounted on the ship’s aft to be used as a defensive measure to shake off potential pursuers. All this firepower, including the 13 crew members on board, are powered by two pairs of engines, which in turn allow the Karo-Tei Type 2 to reach a top speed of 25.9 knots (48 km/h) at full speed ahead.
Now we just need to wait for update 1.89 “Imperial Navy” to try this boat out. Smooth waters commanders!

I really happy to see such a boat in War Thunder!! By the way, this is an Army's subchaser so it should not have rising sun flag... In history Army's gunboats had sun mark flag (national flag of Japan)

I'm pretty sure that there were 2 Rising Sun flags, one for the army, another for the navy. Either way, it is still wrong since the army's rising sun had it in the center of the flag instead of to the side, like the navy's.
When will you fix kill and assist award system for Air RB? It is not working correctly since the longest of times.
I totally agree, this is nonsense. It's the same in AB, you set a plane on fire, and you don't even get an assist.
yes, I shot a few shots at a bomber that was already going down in the hopes for an assist... stole the kil instead... I didn't crit him, just grazed him on the hope I got extra points... the other guy was logically upset.

Are there any plans in the works to update Japanese crew models? seeing IJA soldiers operating a postwar SDF vehicle such as the Type 60 SPRG, especially with their PS2 graphic faces is somewhat jarring.
I think there is more important things to work on.

one option is to give the Type 79 Missiles on the Type 89 IFV the proxy fuse HE warheads it could use.
Check carefully which vehicles can be used standalone. Some systems require other vehicles for targeting and such.
Deutschland-class and Prinz Eugen files were found already some time ago, will they be part of the patch? ik this sounds a litttle bit over the top considdereing that this Update is focused on the IJN, and yes this sounds like wehrb. talk, ik that, but is this possible or will only Japan recieve eavy cruisers this update, like the dev server 1 hinted?

they are adding the Hunter Mk.6 and the F86K for France, which is hilarious, considering that they got around 60 of them from ITALY, produced in license by FIAT ITSELF..., or neither germany that operated 200-ish of them or the US which had the similar F-86D, but gaijin, as always, will say ")))". Apart from that, nothing else. So for another patch we will see top tier jets divided into "Axis vs Axis" or "Allied vs Allied" for another patch... gg gaijin

If you mean new SAMs then yes, if you mean jets then yes: the Hunter F6 and the not really that good of a counter (i guess) the F-86K.
