In the West. Why do we give eggs at Easter?
Easter is a Christian festival. For Christians the custom of giving eggs at Easter celebrates new life. It is a time where many follow the gift giving regardless of religious roots.
The first eggs given at Easter were birds eggs. These eggs were painted in bright colours to give them further meaning as a gift. We still paint bird eggs today but usually only chicken eggs.
An Anglo-Saxon legend - the Easter bunny and eggs
An Anglo-Saxon legend tells how the Saxon goddess “Eostre” found a wounded bird and transformed it into a hare (not a bunny), so that it could survive the Winter. The hare found it could lay eggs, so it decorated these each Spring and left them as offerings to the goddess that saved it’s life.
Similarly, but perhaps more seriously, Easter in Russia is one of the most important Russian holidays in the calendar. The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Easter according to the Orthodox calendar, and it can occur in April or May. Like many countries in Eastern Europe, Russians celebrate Easter with decorated eggs and special foods and customs.
The Russian Easter egg tradition dates back to pre-Christian times when people saw eggs as fertility symbols and as devices of protection. When Orthodoxy was adopted, eggs took on Christian symbolism.
As for these two Easter decals - right now you can use War Thunder CDK to decorate your own vehicle camo designs with them!
Also, we would like to convey our best wishes to you all and hope you enjoy a peaceful and happy time over the weekend.
