Fellow pilots and tankers!
The first season of the Thunder League has come to an end! This first tournament and its winners have already entered the history of the War Thunder eSports as the first champions of the Thunder League.
All the teams have played the new, unique, format of our game, where both, air and ground vehicles, shared the same battlefield.
Players could pick their “weapon of choice” by using tanks, aircraft, SPGs or anti-air vehicles. Every type of vehicle had their own tactical and strategic use in battle which could turn the odds in your favour. By making the correct choices and changing the vehicle setup during the matches, teams tested their player skills, but also their true military style tactical knowledge.
In order to win, they had to make a precise calculations of when to attack or defend, figure out the priorities in the correct selection of targets and deployment of their forces.
During the first season, the complete structure of the Thunder League has been established, including the rules and media support. Work on optimization and further development of the Thunder League continues.
Pro Division and Semi Pro Division
Battles in the Pro Division opened for the first season and from December the 17th till January the 28th, the prize fund grew from $5,000 to $57,425! Players in War Thunder supported the Thunder League with the “Dog Tag” scheme and received new vehicles in the game - the M24 TL, P-51 TL, RBT-5, Panther T-V, Bf. 109-E7 and the E-100. Supporters also received the unique camouflages of the Pro division teams. A stunning three coloured aerobatic smoke was introduced for aircraft, new decals have been added and soon the Deathmatch tournaments will become available. Owners of the golden dog tag will soon receive the unique 3D decal for their tanks - the pirate skull!
Looking at the results of the first season, we would like to congratulate “DISLIKE” from Russia for taking the champion title of the top Pro Division and also the Polish team “Mystery Squad” for winning in the Semi Pro Division. The Russians showed the best teamplay in exciting matches and earned their right to win the biggest prize in the League. For winning first place, they received $20,099! However, the Polish players set the record for number of wins in a row by not losing any matches in the whole season! They had 16 wins in matches, with the result in rounds of 49-9 and made their way to the top, Pro Division.
Novice Division
Serious motivation and training helped the leaders of the Novice Division to become the best among hundreds of squadrons and then win against the Semi Pro teams in the matches for the right to enter the Semi Pro Division.
Four teams from the Novice Division entered the Semi Pro Division!
